Hi All,
There is some confusion about the wife of Timothy Ellwood b1770 Caldbeck who is either Margaret or Elizabeth Ashbridge, or maybe he married both!!
I have Timothy Ellwood mar Elizabeth Ashbridge 30/07/1803 Caldbeck, baptism Elizabeth 6/7/1776 Caldbeck.
I have Margaret Ashbridge born 1781 Hesket Newmarket Caldbeck, died 4/5/1815 Hesket Newmarket Caldbeck.
Children of Timothy are: John b1807, Thomas b1808 & Robert b1810 all Caldbeck. I have never been able to find their baptisms.
There is a will of John Ashbridge, uncle to Thomas Ellwood (son of Timothy) linking the two families. I was told that John was the brother of Margaret but I have no further details about this.
Is anyone researching Margaret/Elizabeth Ashbridge?
Best regards,
Gillian

Robert is in the IGI, 21 July 1810 (of Timothy ELWOOD and Margaret ASBRIDGE)
as is John 9 June 1807 (of Timothy and Margaret)

Hi Geoff,
Thanks. I meant to say that I had never been able to find Thomas' baptism.
Timothy Ellwood marr Elizabeth Ashbridge 30/7/1803 Caldbeck
BUT
John Ellwood bap 9/6/1807 son Timothy & Margaret
Robert bap 21/7/1810 son Timothy & Margaret
Are Elizabeth and Margaret the same person?

There was a Margaret bap at Caldbeck in 1778.

Hi Geoff,
Can see Margaret bap 6/7/1778 dau Robert & Elizabeth Castle Sowerby.
There was a brother too:
John Ashbridge bap 24/4/1776 son Robert & Elizabeth,
This could be the brother who wrote the will mentioning his nephew Thomas Ellwood.
mmmmmmmmm

I'm trying to find the christening or birth registration of Jane Ashbridge, born 1818 in Caldbeck, in the hope of finding the names of her parents. She married John Barnes a Miller of Tallentire/Bridekirk. Wondered if she may be a relative of your ashbridge?

Thank you! I will try and find it. I have tried a few times there but no luck. What did you put in the search box?
Thanks again!
