Title: National Archives of NZ-Wellington
Post by: lynbee on Tuesday 16 December 08 21:10 GMT (UK)
I have found several records relating to my ancestors, but with each of them, under the Location of Records is written, (Record must be ordered & viewed in this office).   Does this mean that I have to go to Wellington to view them or is it worth writing to order them?
A trip to Wellington is not an option for me.

Thanks.

Hi lynbee,

The below link explains about ordering:

Basically you need to be there in person to view the records.   What you can do though is post a request on the board for someone in Wellington to do look ups for you.

Hope this helps.

Cheers
KHP :)

Thanks KHP.  That is what I feared.....I had hoped to be able to get copies as they could be quite lengthy (in one case anyway).
They are very old records so that may not be possible.
I have read about ordering and gather that I may have to get permision to view or make an appointment, so asking someone else could be awkward.
I think that I will have to make a toll call and chat to someone first, before I ask for someone to do a look up for me.
Maybe using their staff is a possibility.....probably out of my budget though!! LOL!!

I will check it out.

Thanks again.

Lyn
