Does anyone have access to burial records or monumental inscriptions for West Tarring?
I am looking for any Weston or Hardham - in particular
Edward Weston and wife Elizabeth (poss Hardham)
William Weston and wife Hesther
But any records of those surnames might help me

Hi
Welcome to rootschat. You do not give any dates but the marriage of Edward Weston to Elizabeth Hardham took place at Findon on 2 Mar 1700/1 He is described as of Tarring. I cannot see a marriage for William to a Hesther/Esther.
Burials at St Andrew West Tarring. Hesther Weston 10 Aug 1718 and William Weston 25 June 1706. Elizabeth Weston 21 Jan 1724 and one Edward, though too early, 23 March 1679 (in woollen) No ages for any of them.

I have now got a bit further with a tentative family tree, all in West Tarring from IGI
Edward Weston m Agnes (I can't find his birth, their marriage, her surname, their deaths).
They had son
Thomas Weston(b around 1558) mar Elizabeth Whyte (poss marr 1584 Chichester or 1585 Tarring, can't find deaths)
They had son
Richard Weston, chr 15.9.1595 mar Alice (can't find their marriage, deaths or her surname)
They had son
William Weston, chr 19.7.1634 d 1706 mar Hesther.
and after that I am OK.
If anyone can expand or confirm this I would be delighted!

Hi Ann,
This burial may be too early if Agnes is the mother of a son born about 1558, but it's there in the West Tarring register for you to make of it what you will.
14/12/1551 Agnes WESTON, wife of Edward from Salvington
The following burials may be of interest too.
24/02/1565 Edward WESTON, Farmer
17/03/1585 Thomas WESTON
19/02/1620 Thomas WESTON, Householder
20/09/1657 Elizabeth WESTON, Widow
19/05/1667 Alice WESTON, wife of Richard
No entry records age; the transcriber appears to have modernised the year for dates before Lady Day.

Hi Audrey,
West Tarring baptism:
31/12/1854 Edith, daughter of Luke & Eleanor HENSON; father's occupation Shepherd.
West Tarring marriage:
09/06/1853 Luke HENSON, Shepherd from Heene, & Eleanor BUSHBY, Servant from Heene, both single. Groom's father Obadiah HENSON, bride's father not given. Witnesses George BUSHBY & Ann Coot FEEST (Ann's given name queried by the transcriber). Marriage after Banns which were read at West Tarring 22 & 29 May & 5 June 1853.

Not the marriage you requested (which is absent from the West Tarring marriage & banns registers) but one that may be of some interest.

Thank you very much for the information! You're right that is wasn't the marriage I asked about but has taken me back another generation with a maiden name I didn't have so it will, hopefully, open a few more doors.
It would seem the couple I was originally asking about did not marry where I thought they did so I'll have to do some more digging - and a bit of guessing.

Audrey

Hi Audrey,
For Edith's marriage try St Mary's, Broadwater.
http://www.barriesgenealogy.co.uk/html/st_mary_s_marriages_1558-1900.html
FamilySearch has the marriage too, but the transcription in the above link has more detail (addresses, occupations, witnesses, etc).
Good luck with your research,

That's fantastic - thank you very much, again!

have you tried The Parish Register Society? They can sell you (for about £3-£4) a CD of the West Tarring Parish register from arond 1600 to 1910.
It lists baptisms, marriages & deaths for that period.

That's very helpful - thank you.
