Title: Hi - looking for help in tracing Robertson and Hamilton
Post by: Talia on Sunday 14 December 08 20:00 GMT (UK)
Hello  ::), I wonder if anyone can help please? I have managed to trace my GG grandfather James Robertson born born/baptised 16 Mar 1826 on the PR in Kilsyth which states that his father was James Robertson Innkeeper in Newtown and his mother who was Jean Goodwin.  I can find no further information for either of his parents except an MI for Kilsyth church graveyard which say James Robertson Innkeeper 1826.  Can anyone suggest where I could search to find out any more information on them.

I am also stuck with finding the birth reg for GG Grandmother Letitia Smith Hamilton, who was married to GG GF James above, I can find Letitia's, Marriage, Death and census info 1841 onwards but cannot find her birth, She was born about 1831 married James in 1850 and died in 1901 in Kilsyth.

I would be grateful for any suggestions on where to look for this information.

Thanks Talia    :D

Hi Ev, firstly, many thanks for taking the time to search out the above info it was really helpful and has filled some gaps.  I'm new to searching out my family tree and not sure how to go about finding b/m/d before 1855, I know I can find some of my family on the OPR for Kilsyth church, but if I don't have dob's or dod's where would I look next.  Any advice on how I go about this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you again for the search.

Hi Talia, Thank you for your quick reply. I had James down in my research files for years as I just just couldn't match him with any spouse/family etc so when I saw your post I was just delighted as I can now add his family to my records AND of course I will hope you might Like to add my Elizabeth. I actually have a photo of Elizabeth and James LUMSDEN. I was in contact with other family members but over the years we all just dropped of and lost contact but we do have some great records which I hope to be able to send to you :)
