Hi there. I think that perhaps we can help each other.
My great-grandparents were born and met and married in Kerry.
My great-Grandfather is Andrew Joseph Horgan and he was born in Abbeyfeale 12-11-?  1890-1901. Not sure of the date. I am looking for any siblings cousins uncles ,etc.

My Great-grandmother is Kathleen Horgan. Her maiden name is Brosnan. She was born in Listowel in Kerry.

Let me know if this means anything to you.

My greadgrandmother was Julia Horgan daughter of Michael and Mary Horgan.nee Quaid or Quard. Michael was a surveyor. Julia married Patrick Hennigan in Listowel in 1859 and they went to Australia and then onto New Zealand. I have not been able to find any connection in Ireland.

Hi

Really hope you are still looking at this thread!

My grandmother was Kathleen Horgan.  She was born in around 1910 - 1911 and I was always led to believe that she was born in Ballylanders.  However, having visited Dublin at the weekend the only register of birth for a Kathleen Horgan was in Listowel in County Kerry.  Her father is listed on her marriage certificate as John or Joseph Horgan (a farmer) but on her birth certificate it is Patrick Horgan.  Of course, it is possible that she wasn't registered at all and I have the wrong person!

She had sisters and she was a nurse in London.  Unfortunately she died in 1954.  My dad was (as far as I know) her only child.  He was born in London but came to Ireland during the war.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Hi, I only just read your message.. Strangely our Horgans came from Kerry, but at some point in the mid '20's my Grandparents moved to Abbeyfeale in Limerick, it would have been just across the river Feale. My Father was brought up there, came to London in the 1950's, met my Mother, a nurse, and stayed here in London.
Small world. :)

We lived in Kerry near to a farmer called Tony Horgan, near Milltown, Lissivane west, his wifes name is in the back of the brain but I believe they adopted a girl from Rumania. Obviously being Irish they were members of Lissivane church so the Pastor may be a good starting point Trebla079
