I'm trying to find out the names/details of the Doctors who were working at the Penrhyn Quarry hospital at Bethesda in early 1859. The person I'm looking for was a young man - possibly a student - who appears to have left the district by the 1861 census.
Does anyone know where/how I might find this information.
Thanks

Hi Heather,
To begin with I'd contact the County Archives Office at Caernarfon; you can email them at <archives.caernarfon@gwynedd.gov.uk> They ought to be able to point you the right way, even if they can't look up anything themselves. If you need a lookup perhaps there might be someone nearer than me who could oblige. Archives are now closed until Tuesday.
Best wishes,
Pinot :)

Hi pinot
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try emailing them next week. :)

Probably not much help but the Llandegai primary school has a nice collection of info (constructed by the pupils ... erm OK so with the help of their schoolteacher) with some interesting facts about connections to the Penrhyn Quarry

Hello,
I am new to this site but I think my daughter had some contact with you last year.
My grandmother was Catherine Hillier and I notice that you have found the connection to Parish and Thatcher, two names that my mother mentioned when I was a child. I think my grandmother's sisters must have married men with these surnames. I think my daughter forwarded to you a scan of my mother's photo.
Regards, Joan.
