Bev,
The 1851 Salford census is quite badly damaged and the Peel St area is particularly bad. I checked all the indexes I have (not complete Salford - excludes Broughton and parts of Regent Road) but found no Benjamin or Hannah Featherstone.

This partial entry from Peel St is a possibility:

Not much help I'm afraid.

The only other Featherstone's I found are these:

Hi Skb
Thank-you for trying, as you say the 1st is a likely one,but the other two are not mine. It's a shame that Salford had to be the damaged one as thats the area were my Ancestors lived.
Once again thank-you for the look up
Bev

Hi Bev,

I am also doing some searching for the Featherstone family in the Salford area, some of which are my family.

I have managed to trace my tree back to Benjamin S Featherstone & Hannah Mary Atkinson. I have their wedding date as 25th Sept 1839. I know that they had a son called Benjamin Atkinson Featherstone who was my great, great-grandad. After finding what i believe to be my great-grandmother's birth certificate (Emma Feathertone). I have come across a confusion regarding Benjamin Atkinson Wife. I know that his wife was called Sarah which agrees with Emma's birth certificate, however her maiden name of Farrow is proving a mystery as we are unable to find a marriage for Benjamin & Sarah.

As you are looking for the record as mentioned above, i was hoping that maybe you could help me with this information.

Many Thanks

Sandra

ps are we related???

Hi Bev,

Wow, thanks for getting back so quickly, its all very exciting!!! :-)

Have you been able to find out any further information regarding the Featherstone's, like Benjamins brothers or sisters or any further information regarding the family further along the tree?

I am really excited about telling my grandad, he was Benjamins grandson, Emma's son.

I would really love to get in touch with you if that is okay? I dont think we are allowed to put emails on here but maybe you could search for me on facebook as Sandra Carew living in Sydney, Australia. It really would be lovely to keep in touch with you more. If you are interested then please drop me a line.

Take care and ill speak soon.

Sandra.

Hi Bev

I beleive (thats a long story!!) that my great great grandfather was a John Featherstone a baker who at one time lived in Heath Street Salford.  Is this your John Featherstone one of your relatives and if it is are you aware of the Bolers ?

Best Wishes

H Taylor

Benjamin looks like he was born in Grassington WRY cir 1820 according to the census and also his name at death registration was Benjamin Suttle Featherstone, which makes a marriage in Linton (the parish which covers Grassington) found in the IGI  1811/    15 Apr.    George Featherstone marr Mary Suttle. The one [problem is there is no baptism for Benjamin)

Hi Bev Many Many Thanks for your quick reply.

My family history is a bit of a mystery!!! to say the least, I will explain.

My grandmothers father was a John Henry Boler.  Unfortunately John Henry (I think he was known as Henry) left his wife when my grandmother was very young, he disappeared.  They were then divorced as she had been deserted to turn up (as the story goes) years later at his ex wifes funeral then disappearing never to be seen again.

My Grandmother knew nothing of her fathers family (and her mother fied when she was 15.

My grandmother has now passed away but I began researching for my father and I found quite a few mysteries especially witrh the Bolers!!!

I found that my great grandfather John Henry was 1 of 10 children born to a Mary Boler

The mystery is that the 1st 3 children appear to have been from a marriage to Samuel Boler, who then appeared to have passed away ay from this time on census's Mary was shown as a widowBUTwent on to have 7 further children between 1882 and 1894.  Mary was a neighbour of a John Featherstone a Baker in Heath Street and I know that a John Featherstone a baker was the father of at least one of the children but I do not know if this John Featherstone was the neighbour / your John Featherstone.

Its a mystery

Barbara

I think the coincidence is to great for the father not to be John Featherstone the baker next door- what was the name of the child?
