hello i am hopeing someone can help me find out more about my great grandparents,elizabeth skidmore and joseph mason coal miner,i think in the 1881 census they lived at 21 jevon street they had five children anne maria mason age 11 william 9 ema 7 willie 6 james 3,on the census record someone put william down as head of the house ,trying to find out when they where born, married and when they died ,i know my grandad which was james walked from dudley to Sheffield looking for work thats when he met my gran another elizabeth they where married in 1898 then moved to cudworth and settled ,i think joseph and elizabeth where married at saint thomas dudley ,i would be gratefull for any help :)

According to the 1881 entry - everybody was b Sedgley except Elizabeth who was b Tipton

hello carolew thank you very much for reply i am new to family history i have only just seen a photo of my grandparents so its nice to find out some more of my great grandparents so could you please explain are they all the same people and if so are all the other children who died at an young age and could john mason the lodger be joseph brother and thank you again you are brilliant i have seen more of my familys history in these notes than i ever knew

The people shown on the various censuses above are all the same family. Parents Joseph & Elizabeth and their children.
You found the family on the 1881 census and I then worked backwards to find them and other children on earlier censuses
Children left home at an early age in those days as most went into service
By 1881 - the older children like Rachel and Judith could be married
