Hi My Grandmother was BERTHA JANE EAVES (EVES) born 1891 in PRESCOT. She married JOSEPH EDWARD ROBERTS born 1889. I would be interested to know if there is anyone on this site related to them. Many Thanks.

Hi,
No relation but have marriage date just in case you don't.
14 October 1911 at St Nicholas, Sutton. St Helens.

Hi
Thanks for letting me know the date they got married. Looking forward to hearing from any EAVES or EVES decendants. Kind Regards.

Hi Blackpoollass,
You can check for surname connections on the Surname Interests table. The link is:
http://surname.rootschat.com/
It's also available at the bottom of each page. If you enter your surname interests you are more likely to make a connection - there are a number of EAVES/EVES researchers listed.

Prescot was the Registration District for many towns and villages in Lancashire.
Because it says on the Registration Prescot does not mean to say that they lived there.
Sutton, in St Helens was in that Registration District, as was the whole of St Helens, Whiston, Prescot, Tarbock, Widnes, Cronton, and many other places.

Prescot was in being long before Liverpool was much more than a very very small place., and Prescot today is still only a small place.

Hi
Thanks for your replies.
I am still looking for members of the Eaves (Eves) family. Bertha Jane EAVES (Eves) married Joseph Edward ROBERTS 19 October 1911 in St Helens. Can anyone tell me what their Mother's maiden names were please? I have just found out that there was an Aunt Maud(e) in the family - possibly from Blackpool but I cannot be certain. This is the only relative that my contact can remember.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards
-
Hi
Freebmd has Bertha Jane Eaves born in Q2 1891, Vol 8b Page762. Take this info to Prescot Registrars Office & they'll get the cert which will show mothers maiden name
Cheers

Hi,
There is an Eaves family website
Jakky

My great great grandmother was Jane Eves born in Preston 1853 to John Heaves and Alice Norris.
The family seem to have had considerable trouble spelling their name and Jane had at least 3 variations recorded at different times, as does her father - which is making it very difficult to trace them all!
Would love to see the Eaves family website... and see if our families connect at all!

Hi Mike,
It is called evere.co.uk/eaves page I think, rather than Eaves but it is the Eaves especially from the Fyle area, but all over the place, you will find lots of interest,
Jakky

sorry got that wrong, I think it is evere.co.co.uk/Eaves page
lots about the Lancashire Eaves plus loads of interesting stuff,
Jakky

Thanks Jakky - a very info-rich site :)
Sadly none of the email adresses work, but it seems my Eaves from Preston may descend from a fairly large family based there a century earlier - certainly a lot of pointers to focus my research on :D
I'd kind of given up on that line for a bit because none of them remained constant in their spelling of the surname!

My website at www.prescot-rollofhonour.info (http://www.prescot-rollofhonour.info) contains information, including a picture, of Thomas Alfred Eaves who was killed in action in Flanders in October 1917.

Can I go off topic a minute ? and say Stephen - that your Honour Roll is terrific .... it's obvious a lot of hard work has gone into it !
Thank you for sharing it !

Annie
Thank you for your kind words, they are really appreciated.
There is still quite a lot of work to be done on the site.
I have now identified four of the men who are on the "Not Identified" page and am just pulling together their stores, and I also have more pictures to load.
In addition, the forthcoming relocation of the BICC Memorial into Prescot Churchyard is the subject of a new article that I am writing for the site.
So keep popping in folks, there's something new every month
:)

Seems a brilliant web site as a lot of Armed Forces Folk here have. :)

Thanks to Stephen for the link to his superb Website. The Thomas Eaves killed in action in 1917 does not appear to be a close relative of my family but it is an unusual surname so there may well be a family connection there as my research continues.
Kind Regards.
