I would be much obliged if someone could look up a William Western (or Weston) in Marylebone. Born abt 1822. He worked as a wheelwright (later on at least).
The address appears to be 9 Beridence Place, Lisson Street, Marylebone.
(Though it could also read Parridence Place or Barridence Place etc. - the handwriting is not excellent).
Thanks in advance, Simon :)

I only have his marriage certificate in 1842.

Hello Paula.
The children (and aprox birth years) are;
William 1842
Margaretta 1844
Joseph 1847
Eliza 1855
Mary Ann 1860
I have a probable entry for them in the 1851 census, but it appears to be recorded very inaccurately!!
Thx, Simon.

Simon
tell us the 1851 ref
or cut and paste the original and we can all have a look!
would the 1841 have an address? doubtful ..... but the Parish etc from the 1851 would make life easier

The possible match in the 1851 I found was 6 Bury Place, Marylebone.
Thx. Simon

St Marylebone (the Parish) is vast in size, spreading across HO107/675 to HO107/680 and the last one 680 (Paddington) is missing!
does it mention on the marriage cert of 1842 the Hamlet?
is it:-
All Souls and Trinity HO107/675
Cavendish Square HO107/676
Christchurch HO107/677
St John HO107/678
St Mary HO107/679
Rectory HO107/680
or is it the Hamlet of Marylebone which falls under the Parish of St Pancras HO107/686
i'll have a look in the Hamlet of St Marylebone for you

Simon
I have just been through the complete Hamlet of St Marylebone
HO107/686/1-17 which is approxiamately 850 pages
and found just one family of Weston at
HO107/686/2
Gripe Street
Thomas Weston 25 porter BIC
Rebecca " 25 "
Jane " 5 "
------------------------------
and one other at HO107/686/10
Woburn Buildings
Catherine Weston 40 needle woman BIC
------------------------------
You can see the magnitude of the task...hopefully you can narrow the search...I didn't come across Lisson Street or P????????? Place so their is still hope
Best of luck with your research

Thanks for all your help so far.
It seems the marriage took place in Trinity Church, St Marylebone in 1842, so it would be a good bet that he was living there the year before.
Kind regards, Simon.

1841
If the Weston's are living at Providence Place, Lisson Street it comes under St Marylebone, Christchurch...HO107/677/1 to 18..... in the 1841 census. It will still take a bit of finding as their is no Street index, but thats where it is.
1851
Bury Place, Earl Street (Marylebone) comes under HO107/1490 folios 309-316 in 1851

1841 Census..St Marylebone
Providence Place....HO107/677/2....pages 1-57, found on the last few pages
Sorry
No 9 Providence Place is the abode of the Timson family...the Weston's are not seen anywhere else in Providence Place
although I did find in Lisson Street
Benjamin Weston 40 butcher BIC
Elizabeth " 30 "
Benjamin " 6 "
Charlotte " 3 "
Jane " 2 months "

Simon
In 1851 at 6 Bury Place
William Western head 28
Margaret " wife 30
William " son 9
Mary " daur 8
Joseph " son 5
John " " 2
no occupations or birth places are entered
---------------------------------
One would assume that if the recorded age is right? William is a single person in 1841? and possibly living with his parents as he got married to a girl from Marylebone?
What was his fathers name which should appear on the marriage cert of 1842?
-
Thanks.
His father was also called William, and was a Wheelwright as per the 1842 marriage certificate.
Simon.
