looking for any info on the death of james boyland, lived 3 vermont st govan 1871 cencus. what happened to him? james was a joiner journeyman husband of rose nee curry .

Hi robytherob,
No signs of a death for James in Scotland, but I think your family did move to England. Rose still shows as married in 1881.
Address: 126 Green St, Liverpool, England
Rose Boyland, f, head, mar., 48, dressmaker, b. Ireland
Patrick ", m, son, mar., 29, window blind maker, b. Ireland
Mary ", f, dau., mar., 28, stay maker, b. Ireland
Francis H. ", m, grandson, 8, scholar, b. Scotland
James Joseph ", m, grandson, 5, -, b. Scotland
Patrick Ed. ", m, grandson, 2, -, b. Scotland
In 1891, Rose shows as widowed, so death between 1881 and 1891 for James. Only one between those dates for Scotland and it's not the right person. :(

Closest death I can find (agewise) in the period 1881 to 1891 is of a James Boyland aged 68 in 1889 in Pontypool, Gwent.

Hi Terry,
Although Rose shows as the head of household, it does not necessary mean James did not travel to England with them. He could be lodging with another family in Liverpool or even just working the night shift at the time of the census.

The 1881 census says she is married and not widowed
-
Sancti,
That's what has been said.
However, by 1891, she is shown as widowed.

I'm just searching again in case my eyes have missed anything!
Searched for James Bo*land (to pick up on Boyland, Bolland etc) deaths between 1872 and 1892, born 5 years either side of 1824 - there's only two in the Glasgow area, two in Ayrshire. Checked the two Glasgow ones (both Borland) ... neither is James. :(
There is one that I mentioned before, which could be a case of bad information. He died Old Monkland poor house and was a puddler. He shows as single, and parents as James Boyland, farm labourer and Agnes Boyland m.s. McCain (?). Don't know if you want to follow this one up.

Added: This was Oct. 1891 and he was 59.
