Hi, does anyone have access to the original census 1841.
I have just found my husbands ancestors on ancestry, however the name is transcribed as Nophad, and the DOB is wrong as well, Agnes born 1816 and Lachlan born 1815. Their son Edward born 1839 has been transcribed correctly as McPhail
1841 Scotland Census
Census & Voter Lists Name: Agnes Nophad
Residence: 1841 - Argyll, Scotland
Birth: abt 1821 - Argyll, Scotland
thanks in advance

Hi Mary :)
I have it. They are all McPhail on the page.
PM me your e-mail and I'll send it to you.

Added - both down as 20 but this means that they could have been born 1816-1821 . 1841 used rounding down into age groups for those over 15.

Thanks gadget :D
opps forgot about the ages being rounded up/down in the 1841 census
As I transcribe the OPRs, for R&C I can see from looking at the names mcPhail and Nophad, where the transcriber was going.
thanks again ;D

Hi weeMary,
My Great Grandmother was Sarah McPhail Campbell from the Isle of Mull.
Aside from who Sarah married in Glasgow, & the names of 3 of their children, I can't seem to turn up any other info, so was hoping your research might link me to her.
Her eldest child that I know about was born around 1893/94, so I'm guessing that Sarah may have been born in the 1870s perhaps.
Sorry to gatecrash your post here, but I am such a newbie at this that I am very stuck.
Thanks if this fits with your Agnes McPhail. :)
