I'm looking for some assistance please to find parents for George:
George Miller born 19 SEP 1831 Shoreditch and suspect John MILLER and Ann Rebecca Larcher b1801 Bethnal Green could be candidates. Although there are several couples of John and Ann and 16 possible siblings not proven at this stage. So I am hoping some kind soul could assist by finding George with his parents/family and other possible siblings in the 41/51/61 Census.
George married in Shoreditch in March 1856 to
Mary Elizabeth Hillyard born London 1829
They had 2 children
George Hillyard Miller Dec 1858 St Pancras London
Florence Newall Miller about 1857-1860 London (have not found it yet) Newall is a family name from her mothers side.
George, Mary and the 2 children went to Qld, Australia JAN 1870 From Gravesend on board "Planet Venus" although I have not found that either (info from unknown source)
Many thanks

Hello Meliora,
I Have been researching for my cousin. Thank you so much for all the info. I am so grateful and amazed. The census info is so essential for research. This will really sort it out for my cousin. She will still have to buy a few certificates to sort things out but now she will know the ones she really needs.
Was there any John Miller in 1861?
George Miller head age 29 Omnibus conductor b don't know; is a bit of a worry. One would think they should know where they were born.
The marriage as below that you suggested sounds just right.
JOHN DAVID MILLER = ANN TINWORTH
12th May 1823
Christchurch, Greyfriars, Newgate St, London
regards from Oz,

hello, Neergj,
I wouldn't worry too much about George not knowing his place of birth on the 1861 census, ths is quite a common occurence & some weird variations havw shown up as POBs, some depending on what the enurerator heard or thought he heard.
re. John Miller in 1861
There is one possible showing but wife is shown as Elizabeth, & his age is not quite right, also John could have remarried.

A bit disappointed about George's birthplace in 1861 as I still have nothing to link him to his parents. My cousin bought his wedding and death certificate and neither has parents indicated. Did it actually say "don't know" on the original or was it illegible? This is the only document that could prove his parentage, as we still can't find travel papers and every certificate has drawn a blank. If he didn't know, could this mean he was an orphan or from the workhouse?
regards,
Janet.
