Hello Rob
This is a bit fractured :-\ What are the possible relationships between these people?
Are they fathers and sons in the order you have given ?
Are there any possible ages / dates of birth known ?
I have found a Henry Jerrett and and Ellen Jerrett in 1901 in Portsmouth, both are married but not living together - Henry is in a Soldiers Institute, Ellen is living alone, says Wife.
This Henry was born c. 1865 and I have found a Henry b. 1866 Portsmouth, in 1871, but his parents are James and Louisa - James born 1837 in Portsea. You dont have a james and Louisa on your list.
Doesn't quite fit and don't want to raise hopes by pursuing the wrong people :-\

Hi, Mum,
Thank you for your prompt reply. Sorry if my mesage was a little jumbled but it was as Elizabeth gave it to me.
James Jerrett m. Amelia Evans is the most distant. No known birth date. Amelia was b. 18.9.1814
They had 3 children, Sophia Jane, b. 25.1 1835
James Jerrett,b. 1838, d. 1900 at Camberwell He married Elizabeth Over, b. 1846
Maria Eliza, c. 17.7.1836
James & Elizabeth had Henry, b. 1866 who married Ellen Lindupp (she re-married Mr. White)
Henry, b. 29.8.1894, d. 22.5.1959 married Emily Fryer, b. 9.3.1893, d. 1987
They had:
Cecil,
Ellen, married Ron ?,
Henry, m. Una
George m. Gwen (no dates) *
On the list was also:
John Jerret married Mary Hardwick 1717, They had 9 children:
John, c. 1718
Francis, c. 1729
Timothy,c. 1726
Eliza, c. 1727
James, c. 1723
Joseph, c. 1735
Jane, c. 1720
Mary, c. 1733
Benjamin, c. 1737
She would like to tie up the 18th century period.
I found Henry, b. 1866 as a soldier but was amused to see that he was based at Parkhurst, Isle of Wight - not the prison, though!!
Many thanks for your help.
RobPhill.

Helo Rob
You may or may not know that Parkhurst was a huge Army Barracks in the later part of th 19th century - I think it might have been a sort of staging post - I have found several families with children born there, and the children on either side of them were born Ireland, India, South Africa etc. So perhaps, being close to Portsmouth and the shipping lanes, if was a place of embarkation ?
Anyway -

Thanks to "Mum" & "Nell" for the information given. I am puzzled why more of the families are not listed in the censuses as they seem to have been in Portsea area for many years. I'll have to keeping searching.
Thanks once again.

The name is open to all sorts of mistranscriptions and variants:
Jerrett, Jerritt, Jerret, Jerrit, Jarrett, Jarret, J might have been read as another letter. Creative thinking will probably be required.

Hello, I am related to an Ellen Mercy Lindupp born in Portsmouth early 1870s, my grandmother was her older sister. They were daughters of Edward and Emma. I have never researched Ellen Mercy, maybe I should, but I do know further back.

Hi, Cynthia,
Have sent you a Personal Message with details. Some of the people may be still living, so didn't want to give details.

Yes, thank you very much RobPhill, I am still getting to grips with the board. Yes it is the same Ellen Mercy Lindupp who is related to me as I am familiar with the census you quoted, I come from Ellen's older sister Elizabeth, she is my grandmother. I am pleased to talk to any of Ellen's direct line, I have some research from further back in Sussex and Surrey.
