Hi Listers,
I am researching Robert Hutton b 21/10/1792 in Fossoway and Tulliebole, Kinross.
Parents are John Hutton, blacksmith, and Christian Henderson. If possible could someone check to see if there is any information on his parents in the records.
Regards Janine

Hi Gadget,
Thanks a lot for the look up. Its great to give Robert a family! I must admit I am suprised at how mobile the families at this time were. The younger generation seem to be shifting around alot. I guess this would have been to find work. The conditions must not have been too good to force most of the family overseas.
Do you know how far back the parish records go in Kinross? Would it be possible to chase up the parents records. I found the Scotland People site. Would it be likely that they would have any records back that far?
Cheers Janine ;D

Hi
I did find a baptism record for a Christian Henderson on SP :
30 Dec 1753, Portmoak, Kinross. Father Alexander
However, this name doesn't continue to Christian's children and, if they used the Scottish traditional naming patterns, John's father would have been Adam and Christian's parents would have been Margaret and Robert. It depends if they did follow these conventions.
The Records for Kinross OPR dates are here:

For parish boundaries, see:

The IGI on www.familysearch.org does have a considerable number of Scottish records online. It may be worth seaarching there before you spend any credits.
