Just write to the FAI saying who you are...enclose a letter and ask them to forward it to him??
or
Director of Sports, RTE Television, Donnybrook, Dublin 4 as he often commentates on matches on RTE!

Hi I am not sure if this is of any interest to you but I have a Kathleen Reilly as a witness to my aunts wedding in 1922. My aunt Catherine Loughrey married John Nangle at St Lawrence O'Toole church. On the other side of my family my uncle Thomas Moore married a Sarah (Sally) Stapleton. Sally (as she was known) died 2 Octpber 2005 aged 78. This is a Reilly/Stapleton connection.

Thank you for your reply, could be ,you never know and even if there isn`t a connection at least it will eliminate it from my line of searching. It`s the closest I have got so far, being as I have had no response from the letters that I wrote to Frank Stapleton,I know they know we exist as my husbands grandfather sometimes talked about meeting Frank when he was younger and just starting out in football and how he would make it into the big time, not sure if they think we will be a nuisance but we only want info on John Reilly`s family who was Mary`s brother.
anyway thank you for your reply
will see if i can write some details down for you
many thanks
regards

Have you tried looking on the Dublin 1911 census? Probably teaching a grandmother to suck eggs!

My mother always told me that Sarah (Sally) was related to Frank Stapleton. I think that she said she was his aunt. Unfortunately my mother has been gone 11 years now and my aunts who are still alive in Dublin are in their 70's and 80's and they spend most of their time talking to the little people now. It is a shame I never started this journey when my mother was alive. Regards Lorraine

I know the feeling granddad died last year but was never very forthcomming about his irish family until the very last going off.wish we`d asked him more and kept on. The only other living member of his family is 90 and not really sure about the family, the younger members are all very unsure a bit like myself.
Anyway lets have a go here you never know something might ring a bell
what I have isn`t much to go on
John Reilly ?1864 (car/van driver) married (we think) Bridget Canavan(very young when conceived first child we think about 16
children -James(1884) John(1887)unknown child (1889) Steven(1890)Mary(1893)Eilleen(1895) Michael (1897)Julia(1900)Patrick (1902)and Christina 1904 we are not sure if this is the family but was the only one that we found so far that could be.
John married Margaret Colmey (july 1909 and their first child John was born 1909)his sister Mary Anne married The Stapleton connection.
All the Reilly connections seem to be from around the summerhill area of Dublin.
This is probably of no connection to yours but it would be nice if there was
