Most grateful for your prompt reply to my look up request.
I have tried for months to find a link but without luck and I had just about given up..I am sure the links shown in the 1841 and 1851 census are connected to my family and it has given me some encouragement to continue my research
Many thanks
With regard to the Llangattock Lingoed connection I am not sure.Since the 1880s The Pritchard family were living in Abergavenny although the family grave is at St Teilos Church Llantilio Pertholy some two miles away but still only three or four from you.I will let you know if I come across a connection

Most grateful for your reply to my look up request.
I am hopeful this will give me the missing link that I have been having trouble with.
Kind regards

I also have a William PRITCHARD born Cwmyoy c 1790 who married Elizabeth [?]. She gave Abbey Dore in Herefordshire as her birthplace in the 1851 Census. They are both buried at Grosmont. There is an 1818 marriage of a William PRITCHARD and an Elizabeth COOKE which could be theirs.
Three of their children, according to the I.G.I., are:
- Sarah at Grosmont on 4th Feb 1827. She married Lewis WATKINS. Both were living with her father in 1855
- Elizabeth at Grosmont on 14th Nov 1824. She is not mentioned in her father's will so may have died.
- Mary at Grosmont on 25th Nov 1820. She married John CHRISTOPHER and was in Nantygloe in 1855
He was a bailiff and labourer and gave "The Birches" as an address on some of his daughters' Christenings records.

Thanks for the info.I am sure there must be some connection but at the moment I have my William Pritchard married to Margaret. They had 3 children David William and John and I believe the son William born 1835 was my GG grandfather.
I have however come to a stop as I cannot find any details of Margaret or much about William so will be off to the Records office when I have time.
Thanks again If I find anything of interest I will let you know

I absent-mindedly forgot to include another daughter of my William PRITCHARD - the reason why I was drawn to your post in the first place - my 2 x great grandmother, Margaret PRITCHARD who married William BROWN at Llanvihangel Crucorney on 2 June, 1842.
William BROWN was then a shoemaker and later a farmer and inn keeper - first at Cwmyoy [Black Lion], next at Llangattock Lingoed [Carpenter's Arms] where he was born, and finally at The Cherry Tree Inn [half way between Llangattock Lingoed and Grosmont].
Any of your PRITCHARDs connected to the Black Lion at Cwmyoy?
It looks like your 'Margaret', being female, is not a PRITCHARD and just a coincidence.
-
I have come across the Black Lion in my research but cannot connect the two Pritchards.I am hoping that if I can find the surname of Margaret then I may get a link to her marriage to William.
I will let you know if I have any luck.!!!!!

pritchard,
Have you had any luck with Margaret PRITCHARD's maiden name? It could very well be THOMAS as her husband states that William & Blanch THOMAS are his brother-in-law and sister-in-law on the 1861 Census [above] - though this would only be true if William THOMAS was her brother.
-
Hi bernardhaggan, Still no luck with the Margaret link but the 1841 census does still suggest that William and Margaret had a son William born in 1835 whic could be my grand father. The baptism links you gave me will renew my efforts. Thanks again.
