hi
looking for the marriage of henry reardon and Elizabeth a surname unknown, she was born abt 1855 in Paul cornwall,
-
Hi whdsn,
FreeBMD shows one marriage in the correct time frame
Sep 1873 Neath 11a 870
Henry Reardon to either Margaret Edwards or Elizabeth Anne Hughes
Not sure why they would have married in Neath though :-\
-
Oh wait! Do you have the 1901 census yet?
1901
RG13/2254 114 18
Penzance, Cornwall
4 Sandy Bank
Elizabeth A Reardon, head, mar, 45, Charwoman, b. Paul
George C, son, 22, Mariner Merchant Service, b. Penzance
Annie, dau, s, 21, House Maid Domestic, b. do.
Agnes E, dau, 13, b. do.
Elizabeth A Hughes, mother, wid, 74, Charwoman, b. St Ives Just
(interestingly, mother Elizabeth A Hughes was already 75 in 1891!)
-
I think that marriage may be correct as in the 1891 census Elizabeth is Head of the Household (although married) and there is also in the household
Elizabeth A Hughes Mother Widow 75 Retired Farm Servant
Barbara
Added - Mother seems to have a problem with her age!

hi
thanks for looking, henry was born in shorwell isle of wight but moved to cornwall. Annie on the 1901 census is my great grandmother
-
hi tati and Barbara
thank you very much for the searches, do the 1901 census say where Elizabeth a hughes was born. strange how henry and Elizabeth got married in neath, i wonder if they got family or worked there? Wayne
-
Well, good thing you asked!!
I double checked and I think 1901 says St Just (I initially read it as St Ives). It's St Just in 1891 as well :)
-
hi tati
thank you for that. wayne
-
hi tati
i found Elizabeth father, is name is thomas henry hughes. i can't find where they got married.
Elizabeth brothers were registered in Paul cornwall. the index shows parents are resident in Sheffield. is there a Sheffield in cornwall
-
Hello Wayne
Which records are you referring to? And where did you find Thomas Henry Hughes?
Barbara

I'm guessing it's from the Cornwall OPC
http://www.cornwall-opc-database.org/moreinfo.php?ID=272830&dbtype=baptisms
Christening on 12 Jan 1852 of
James age 5
Richard age 3
John (don't know if he's the one who is buried 2 days later)
parents Thomas Henry and Elizabeth
Family at HO107/1918/341 19 in 1851 - very faint image unfortunately.
How we can make 100% sure these are the same family, I don't know yet ...
-
This looks like the correct Elizabeth in 1861:
1861
RG9/1595 11 16
Penzance, Cornwall
Elizabeth Hugh, head, wid, 38, House Keeper, b. St Just
Elizabeth, dau, 7, b. Paul
Ellen, dau, 1, b. Penzance
Shame none of the boys seen in 1851 are with them...
(Richard and Thomas are in service)
-
This might be a possible marriage:
Thomas Henry Hughs to Elizabeth Tonkin
Sep 1842 Penzance 9 237
The details for the marriage are on the Cornwall OPC site
:)
