Hi Ruth
Also I would like to know what Richard Streeter did before he came to NZ
See my reply above re: 1841 family. Richard was a labourer

Hi
I am a descendant of Richard and Kezia Streeter. Their daughter Ann is my great- great-grandmother.
Is it possible for some kind person to look for her baptism in Canterbury and her brother William Randell STREETER.
William born: March quarter 1842 in Canterbury
Ann ( Annie) born: December quarter 1847 in Blean.
The family came to New Zealand in 1851.
Thank you in advance
Helen

Hi
Thank you Betty for the information on William. I have information on Sarah Mercy STREETER and Annie STREETER in New Zealand. Interested to hear from anyone with has information on the other siblings: Kezia Ann, Jane Maria and William Randall.
Richard STREETER died in 1875 and Kezia STREETER nee RANDALL in 1854 in Nelson, New Zealand.
As Richard was a farm labourer I assume that the family moved around for work and that is why Annie is registered in BLEAN not Canterbury.
It is interesting that they immigrate via Lyttleton, in Canterbury, New Zealand and settle in Christchurch or the Nelson areas of New Zealand.
Cheers Helen

Hi Helen
My Gr. Gr Grandmother was Jane Maria Streeters,
Jane Married Frederic Millard on the 28.9.1861 at Wiemar West,Frederic lived at Wiemar West, Nelson.
Frederic came from Palmerston in Somerset, England.he came on the ship Cashmere in 1859
Jane and Frederic had 9 children and they also help raise Frederic's brother Samuel Millard's children after his wife died.
Jane and Frederic's youngest daughter was born with Downers Syndrome, but they did not put her into a home, she was a much loved child of the family.
My Gr Grandfather was their eldest child Walter, Edwin Millard.
Frederic met with a tragic accident and drowned in the WA-Ito River at Wiemar West on the 9.4.1896 and is buried in the Family Plot at St. Michaels Church Wiemar West
Jane Maria died on the 2.9.1907.
I have more info if you would like it.
I would also be interested in information on any other members of the Streeters family.
Thanks
Ruth

I have extensive Streeter family from Kent Co, Michigan and i can trace the Streeter line back to Stephen Streeter born 1600 in Goudhurst, Kent, England. He came to the US before 1640 when he married Ursula Adams in Massachusetts. His father was also Stephen born in 1572 Goudhurst, Kent, England and died there in 1616. I assume his son then left for Massachusetts shortly after that. I hope to get back to my England roots soon, I'm working on the Sicilian part now ;D

Hello - this is my first time using this site so hope I'm doing it right.
My husband is descended from Richard and Keziah, by their daughter Kezia(h) - he is her Great Great Grandson.
I would be very interested in finding out more about her siblings.
I have most of Keziah's family, she was married 3 times and had children with each husband (we are related by her 2nd marriage to Thomas Wylie/Woolley McKenzie).
I have a photo of Keziah and would be interested if anyone else had photos of their Streeter lines.
Kind regards
Elizabeth

Hi
I'm also researching Keziah Ann Streeter who married Charles Edward George Wootton (my husband is related via Charles half brother).
I have found it interesting to come across the references to Keziah's mother having the maiden name Rendall/ Randell as Keziah Ann & Charles had a son and called him William Rundle Wootton (he, in turn, called his son Alfred Rundle Wootton). Perhaps this could lead to finding a baptism record for Keziah senior?? I haven't had any luck yet but as more records keep getting added, who knows when one might come up.
I would also be interested in getting the details of Keziah Streeter's death as I can only find the death & burial for Richard in 1875.
Happy researching to all, Cheryl Wootton

There is a baptism for a Keziah RANDALL in Ickham (not that far from Canterbury) 13 May 1810 http://www.familysearch.org which may be worth investigating.
Casalguidi :)

There is a birth record (7 July 1811) for a Richard Streeter in Harbledown, on the other side of Canterbury from Ickham but a neighbouring parish to St Dunstan. ???
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NJMT-YV3
Further information following on from Casalguidi’s posting.
Baptisms in Ickham
Sarah d/o Thomas & Mary RANDALL 12 January 1806
Maria Ann d/o Thomas & Mary RANDLE 28 March 1807
Thomas s/o Thomas & Mary RANDLE 13 November 1807
Keziah d/o Thomas & Mary RANDALL 13 May 1810
William s/o Thomas & Mary RANDALL 5 April 1812
One baptism in Littlebourne
Mary d/o Thomas & Mary RENDALL 15 April 1804
A marriage in Ickham
Thomas RENDAL (of Littlebourne) Mary MEASDAY (otp) B 15 October 1803
Witnesses Thos Measday Ann Twyman
Adding to the marriage of Richard Streeter and Kezia Rendell in 1837 the witnesses were Sarah RENDELL (sister ?) and George Prior. ??? ???
Now a small leap with the family. There are the following Parish Register entries which could be the Randalls. ???
All in St Peter Parish, Canterbury.
Baptism
Henry s/o Thomas & Mary RANDALL 12 June 1814, St Peter’s Lane, Miller
Then burials as follows:-
Henry Randall 9 May 1815 (11 months) St Peter’s Lane
Mary Randall 12 May 1815 (11 years) St Peter’s Lane
Maria Randall 9 June 1815 (8 years) St Peter’s Lane
Thomas Randall 12 April 1826 (48 years) St Mary Northgate
For Helen13 (You may already have this) ???
I have found a likely baptism record for Ann Streeter in the Parish of Bridge.
The date was 18 February 1879 Ann d/o Richard & Kezia STREETER. Richard was said to be a Labourer and the family from Harbledown. However, the reason the baptism took place elsewhere, was that the family was in the Union House, which happens to be in Bridge!
I leave all this information, for those of the family, to decide on whether or not it fits in with their research. ???
Regards,
Tony :)

Hi Tony
I have been reviewing my information on the Streeter family. I do not have a baptism record for Ann STREETER. Can I get you to recheck the year please as in 1879 Ann STREETER is in New Zealand with her parents and married.
Very many thanks for all the information that you have posted.
Cheers Helen

HI
I am starting to do research on the Streeter family. My 3rd great grandmother is Sarah Mercy Streeter who married John Busch about 1857.
I'm looking for any info, but would really like to know when she came to NZ, Boat?? Who with. I have a copy of a book about the Busch family, and it mentions that when Sarah & John married about 1857 she was a widow with a young daughter, so any info on her first marrige would be great - was it here or England?
-
As Sarah Mercy Streeter was about 10 years old when she left England, she must have married in New Zealand. Sarah's mother was Keziah Streeter, nee Rendall, and her mother was Mary Measday.
If anyone in this chain in interested in Thomas Rendall (c1778-1826) and especially Mary Measday (1780), I have her parents and siblings on my tree on RootsWeb, see http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/
and enter measday in the database box
Her father was Thomas Measday (1757-1825), her mother was Susannah Spaine (1759-1834), and her brother was Thomas Measday (1783-1855), my 3g grandfather.
I have not yet entered the Streeter family in this tree, but will do it soon when I have digested all this information in this chain !!
Best wishes
David Measday.

Hi,
Sarah Mercy STREETER was christened on 8th October 1837 in Thanington, Kent, England. Taken from the IGI. Her birth is registered in the English GRO Births Index.
Sarah according to my research was the eldest child of five children of Richard STREETER and Kezia RENDALL/RANDALL.
From the 1841 English census the family lived at Wincheap Street, Snelling's Row,St Mildred, Canterbury.
The family came to New Zealand in 1851 on the Ship "Steadfast" . They left on 27th February 1851 from London and arrived at Lyttelton, New Zealand on 8th June 1851.
Their name was transcribed as "Sheeter".
Sarah Mercy STREETER married in New Zealand in 1854 to David STEPHENS. He died in Nelson on 3rd August 1856, aged 25 years.
They had one child - Kezia Ann STEPHENS b.2nd April 1855 in Nelson and d.23 December 1857 in Blenheim.
Sarah married John BUSCH on 1st December 1857 in Nelson.
Am I correct that you are a descendant of George William Henry BUSCH and Anna Maria Catherina ALVE, Theresa Anna BUSCH and Charles Cecil EMMEMS?
I would be interested in comparing notes on the BUSCH Family as Annie STREETER, Sarah's youngest sister had descendants marry into the BUSCH family. I am still trying to sort them out correctly with the correct parents.
Hope this information is helpful.
Cheers Helen
-
Hi
Yes I'm a great grand daughter of Theresa and Charles. Will have to get the Busch book out and have another read! It is many years old.

Hi
Have been reviewing my information on Jane Maria STREETER. I have that she was christened on 10 November 1844 in Kent, England. She died 30 August 1907 in Nelson, New Zealand. She married in 28 September 1861 to Frederick Robert MILLARD.(b.31 January 1831 - d.9 April 1896).
Can anyone confirm that below are the correct children of Jane and Frederick MILLARD? All born in New Zealand - query Nelson.
Walter Edwin Richard MILLARD (b.23 September 1862 - d.21 September 1928)
Annie Martha MILLARD (b.30 October 1864 - d.26 March 1941)
Randall John MILLARD (b.6 October 1867 - d.21 June 1928)
William Robert MILLARD (b.4 September 1869 - d.12 March 1949)
Lucetta Ann MILLARD (b.24 December 1872 - d.9 February 1943)
Francis Samuel MILLARD (b.20 December 1875 - d.8 February 1900)
Joseph George MILLARD (b.5 April 1879 - d.4 February 1896)
Ethel Ada MILLARD (b.15 September 1881 - d.11 March 1965 )
Edith Mary MILLARD (b.18 October 1884 - d.2 July 1908)
I think that only the eldest five children marry. I apologise in advance if any of the above information is incorrect.
Look forward to any further help.
Many thanks Helen

The Millard family on Ancestry has Lucetta Ann Millard (1872) dieing in 1907; the others are agree. Worth checking out Lucetta.
David.

Hi David,
Thank you for your reply. I can not access that information. However, I can not find a Lucetta Ann MILLARD dying in 1907. Looking up the New Zealand Birth, Death and Marriage Indexes I have found:
Lucetta Ann Millard birth to parents Jane Maria (Streeter) and Frederick Robert ( Millard) registered in 1873 in Nelson, New Zealand.
The only death recorded for the name Lucetta Ann MILLARD is in 1864 and the child is 6 years old.
I am trying to verify that Lucetta Ann MILLARD married Thomas JONES on 11 December 1902 in New Zealand. I have found a death for a Lucetta Ann JONES dying 9 February 1943 in New Zealand. This date fits for Lucetta Ann MILLARD born 1872 - however it may be incorrect.
I am open to any suggestions or help.
Many thanks
Helen

Hi
I have found Lucetta Ann JONES nee MILLARD buried in St Michael's Cemetery in Waimea West, Nelson, New Zealand. She is near some MILLARD plots and with her husband and daughter.
Cheers Helen

I was interested to pursue Sarah Rendall, the sister of Keziah Streeter, nee Rendall, because she witnessed the wedding on March 24 1837. I found a marriage for a Sarah Rendell to William Amos in 1843, certificate Canterbury 5 83 1843(March); luckily there was one tree on Ancestry, viz. "The Big Kent Tree" which had William Amos, and that simplified my search, but the link to Keziah was not on it. So William and Mary had two children:- William Randall Amos (1845) and Catherine Ann Amos (1846), but in the 1851 census they were being looked after by their aunt Frances Jordan, the sister of William. Neither Sarah nor William Sr. are in the 1851 census, though a William Amos aged 59 (should be 39) was lodging in Canterbury, a widower, so Sarah had probably died, but there is no certificate (and I tried a general scan of all death certificates in Canterbury from 1846 to 1851). William Amos appears again in 1861 re-married to Eliza Cullen, nee Ansley (1821-1870) with her child Sarah Ann Cullen (1850).
For the children they are in the 1861 census, and William is next door to his adoptive parents; Catherine is a domestic nearby. After that William may have moved to Minster, Thanet, and stayed a bachelor, dieing in 1906, but he never used the "Randall" again, making identification dicey. Catherine Ann disappears from the record, and is not on any tree on Ancestry, so I'm stuck. Did she go to New Zealand ??
At least we have a scenario for Keziah's sister; I have ordered Sarah's marriage certificate to confirm her father.
Regards
David.

Hi David,
I have been able to find the marriages of Sarah RENDALL to William AMOS and William AMOS to Eliza CULLEN.
The first marriage took place on 28th January 1843 at the Parish church of St Mary Bredin, Canterbury, Kent.
The second marriage took place on 11th September 1859 at the Parish church of St Mildred, Canterbury, Kent.
I have not had much luck with finding Catherine AMOS. I think that she may have been baptised in St Mary Bredin on 3rd March 1850.
Now to the Streeter Family:
Richard STREETER looks to be the child of Richard STREETER and Sarah BENNETT. Their marriage is on familysearch.org website as 13 October 1806 in Thanington, Kent, England. Looking at the image they married by Banns and signed by their marks. One of the witnesses is an Elizabeth BENNETT.
It is interesting to also note that the minster was W. BENNETT.
Richard STREETER and Sarah BENNETT had 11 children. They are buried in St Nicholas Hospital Church in Harbledown Kent, England and according to find a grave website there is a headstone.
Cheers Helen
