Post by: Broons on Thursday 13 November 08 20:29 GMT (UK)
Hi!
Does anyone have any information about Jane Pattison wife of George Gilroy (c1838). George was born in Inverkeillor, Forfarshire, but I have no info on Jane.

Hi   :)

There is a marriage in Murroes  1892  between a George Gilroy and a Jane Patterson but the ages don't fit - George was 22 and Jane was 23

The George Gilroy who was b. Inverkeilor (parents Thomas and Margaret on the censuses)  m. in Inverkeilor in 1869 to Elizabeth Caird. George was 29 .

Hi! My grandfather David Gilroy married Jane Chisolm on15th April 1918 in Edinburgh. I got their marriage certificate from Scotlands people where his parents are listed as George Gilroy and Jane Pattison. However, my mother's middle name was Patterson so your info may relate to my tree. David

If you are interested, George Gilroy Sr, son of Thomas Gilroy and Margaret Hunter, had a brother James, born about 1835, who married Jean Mackenzie, my 3rd cousin twice removed. I have some information about their descendants.

Thomas, age 30, quarrier was in the village of Leysmill, parish of Inverkeilor in the 1841 census with wife Margaret, 35 and children James, 5; Margaret, 4; and George, 1.

Interested in the details shown. My Grandmother was Mary Lambert Gilroy (born 1888) the eldest child of George Gilroy and Jane Paterson. She married Hugh Guthrie in 1910 in the Manse Tealing. My mother was her eldest child and was named Jane Paterson

Hi David
Nice to hear from you. Although I don't think I have met you, I certainly knew your Mum and Dad - in fact we bought a lampshade in your Mum's shop!!
