I just checked these against my list of macclesfield names and there are no matches! I am actually surprised when you think my husbands family has 6 generations in the Macclesfield area!

Hi JEBelfield
Thanks for that - appreciate it
Not to worry, but I bet my family did come into contact with some of your ancestors as we owned the Corner Shop in Windmill Square for some 100 years as well as a cake shop nearby.
Never mind - I do have a good family tree, just trying to put a bit more flesh on the bones

Hi Chris,
What do you have on HANDLEY in Macclesfield?
I have just discovered a possible link to a Mary HANDLEY who married Matthew SALT in 1817 in St.Michael's, Stone, Staffs. Matthew came from Alton, Staffs. I would have thought Mary also came from Staffs, but I could be wrong as the family (6 children) were settled in Macclesfield when Mary died quite young in 1833. She must have been a child bride as she appears to have been born about 1803. :o
Thanks

Not exactly true though as we know we have Windmill Square in common don't we!

Hi Anne
I too have Bailey's in my tree- my maternal gran was Elsie Bailey born 1897 at 22 George Street West -parents Joseph and Emily (nee Heapy).
My mum's dad Albert Worth was born in Black Road in 1893 and his family lived there for many years into the 20th century. On the 1861 census they too were in Copper Street.
