Just an update!
Their website shows that the Irish BMDs are a “completed” project, so I (again!) contacted LDS to ask when they would be made available on FamilySearch. This morning’s reply is:
Dear Patron,
Thank you for contacting FamilySearch Indexing Support.
In answer to your question about when the Ireland BMDs will be made available to the public we can not give you any specific date or time.
Information about upcoming collections in Record Search has not been made available. We can only suggest that you regularly visit Record Search in FamilySearch.org. New collections are being added frequently and we hope it will not be too long until they are made available.
We appreciate the efforts you have made in participating in the Indexing Program. With the number you have indexed it really is a significant amount you have done. Thank you for your participation.
Sincerely,
FamilySearch Indexing Support
wcm
When I first contacted them in April 2008, I was told it could be “several weeks or months” before we would see the BMDs. So is “it will not be too long” a step nearer??

thanks for the update - will keep an eye out for on the website for any changes.
They seem to have some extracted data already up - 1864 to mid 1880s ?
I was able to find data for Co. Dublin and Wicklow which I know to be accurate from GRO searches.
maybe we'll have a great Christmas present and get all the BMD data and National Archives census data all in the same month!

They don't drink or celebrate Christmas? Didn't know that...it's a wonder they manage to get any newcomers to their fold. :( Guess I won't be converting any time soon...

Didn't know about Christmas, but no coffee or tea either, but they do do lots of singing.

Does this mean births, marriages and deaths? There are few deaths in the IGI.
How will this info be titled? Does anyone know?
Shane, where did you find Dublin data?

Yes.
There are few deaths in the IGI.
Yes, but the ones I'm referring to are the OFFICIAL, Government records.
How will this info be titled? Does anyone know?
I'm guessing it will be as it is at the moment. I don't think they will show them any differently to the way you find any names on the IGI.

Thank you for your reply! We'll just have to wait and see.

Hi,
The LDS's should hopefully show all of the details that are in the the Irish GRO's BMD's indexes as that is what all the volunteer transcribers around the world have transcribed from the indexes ( I transcribed a few pages myself and the information is exactly like what is in the English and Welsh BMD indexes) : name, reg district, the quarter it was registered ( death age if a death) etc, the volume and page number
Kind Regards:)

Liz, thankyou! I am already aware of this site, and as usual, found nothing relevant!

So, there should be a heading or title, Irish GRO Index or something similar?
This is what I am not grasping :-\ None of the other categories of info are GRO lists.
Sorry to be so dim :-[ As I said, we'll have to wait and see.

to get the extracted BMD data that I found to be accurate use the basic search from the home page, ignore these first results then click on the 'IGI/British Isles' link on the right of the sceen.
you can then search by county etc using the refine link at the top of the screen. There are some restriction as to the combinations you can search for
many of these records are 'extracted' records... you have to click on them them to see the note
