Post by: Dolly_007 on Tuesday 11 November 08 22:32 GMT (UK)
Hello,
Anyone have a idea where Hudson House Kingsway is located?-the above Company name /address is given for ancestor returning back from Durban South Africa in 1923.
I googled Kingsway, it returned as being the Derbyshire area. There is Hudson House Kingsway London, that building is more recent .
John Thompson's was a engineering company.

Cheers
Dolly.

Possibly it no longer exists .

There is now a Kingsway Business Enterprise park - and most of that part of Derby has been rebuilt .
Kingsway Rd stretches along the A38 from markeaton Island to Kingsway island.

There is a hudson house on Hudson Way pride park Derby -but this is a recent development

Derby evening telegraph have a "Bygones" section - if you contacted them somene may recall the premises

Hi Dolly, Kingsway and Queensway  in Derby were only opened as brand new roads in the early 1930's by King George V and Queen Mary. Prior to that there was little there other than the Borough Asylum built in the 1880's . Kingsway was a new name to Derby. The retail park was built on old railway land and the shopping centre on a refuse tip, previously a brickyard. Regards, Cecil.
