I wish to trace baptisms of children born at Chorley, near, I believe, Alderley.
The details I have are as follows:-
Surname Hamnett or similar.
Mary Hamnett born c 1840
Hannah Hamnett born c 1842
John Hamnett born c 1844
Joseph born c 1848
Robert born c 1850
All shown on census as born at Chorley.
Their parents may be Thomas and Betty Hamnett.
According to a death certificate I have purchased from the Registrar at Macclesfield
Betty Hamnet died18 May, 1855 at Chorley. T. Hamnet, present at death, was the informant for the death.
Please can you assist with a record of her burial as well as the above baptisms

1851 has a Hannah age 9 at HO 107 2162 243 14 as dtr of Hannah.
cant see another one of that age.
Which census did you get the names and approx ages from? I cant see Births in the index which coincide well with these ages.
Have you got Betty (or Thomas) on 1851?

Tomorrow I will telephone the Register Office at Macclewfield and ask them to chyeck out these two births. Any hints about the marriage of Thomas Hamnett and Betty .....

Contacted the Registrar at Macclesfield. I am hoping they will find a common maiden name for the 3 children listed on Cheshsire bmd for Alderley and be able to supply me with a marriage certificate for their parents. Still searching for the burial of Betty Hanet who died 18 May, 1855, at Chorley, Alderley, whilst in Labour.

Thomas Hamnett and Elizabeth (Betty) Taylor married in St Mary's, Cheadle (2)2 Feb 1835.
They had children Mary (1839), Hannah (1841), John (1844), Joseph (1846), Robert (1850) and Charles (1852). Also Anna (1837) and an unnamed male child (1849), both of whom died in infancy. When Betty died in childbirth in 1855, it appears that the child didn't survive either.

Thank you ever so much for taht information. How may I obtain copies of any relevant documents? Tahnk you for taking the time to look on my behalf and send me the information. Roger.
-
No problem at all - I can't take the credit for finding all of the information, though; quite a lot of what I know about the Hamnetts in Cheshire came from some distant relations who still live in the area.
If you let me have your email address I will try to dig out what information I have and send you scans of anything relevant I can find - what's your connection, if you don't mind my asking? Might just help me focus a bit better when looking through what are unfortunately mounds of not brilliantly organised data! I'm descended from Thomas and Betty's son Charles.
Regards
Owen
