Title: Rogers, Dearle, Nicholls family: Te Aroha
Post by: AnitaMahina on Sunday 09 November 08 03:04 GMT (UK)
Hi there,

Have just found a connection to this family through my father's side. I would be most grateful for any information/certificates/photos of this family. Particularly interested in their life in and around Te Aroha.

William Nicholls married H Te Whakaawa
Their daughter Alice Grey Nicholls married Charles John Dearle 1880
Their daughter Annie Dearle married George William Rogers
Their daughter Elsa Mabel Jean Rogers married  Eric Howard in 1928 = 3 children
Elsa died 1956 Tauranga.

many, many thanks!

Hi Anita,

do you have Alice & Charles marriage cert ?

Would be very interested in looking at that, regarding her mums spelling.

I am doing a intense look at Alices generation, trying to sort out the differing trees.

I am also starting on Wiliam Nicholls back in Cornwall, hard going but a good local researcher is helping.

Basically I'm just trying to build the two/three generations to about 1900.

Would interested in any certs of this period.

there are also some more cousins on Maori.org too.

                                              Cheers, Mark

Other related families of that period are CARTMAN, SMALLMAN and GUILDING.

You will find some of those on paperspast also,  :)

Hi Mark

Thanks for that... The only information I have was found from the LDS website.
It was only on the off chance that i read the "Native Agent" story that I realised who Charles and Alice Nicholls were!

Will have to start ordering some certificates i think, but will make an appeal for them first, in case anyone is willing to share  :)

Cheers

Most of the info on the LDS site is incorrect,  :(

But as I said, I am into those two odd generations in a big way now and will pass on copies when near to completion.
