Hi,
I am gathering information on my family's link to Greyabbey.
My ggg grandfather Hugh Williams married my ggg grandmother Catherine Semple in the parish church in Greyabbey on the 16th September 1855.
Catherine's father was Samuel Semple a Tailor, I do not know who Catherine's mother was but I strongly think she was a Davidson before marriage. as there are many Davidsons on my family tree and William Davidson and Thomas Davidson were witnesses at the wedding.
I also have found that there is a gravestone in Greyabbey:
DAVIDSON
Robert D of Greyabbey
died Jun 10 1853 aged 73
also 2 of his children who died young
grandson Thomas John
died Mar 3 1857 aged 4
his wife Catharine alias RABY
died 22 May 1860 aged 75
his daughter Catherine
born 16 Dec 1825
died 22 Oct 1888
also his daughter Margaret MORRISON
died 15 Feb 1897 aged 78
I believe I am descended from Robert and Catharine alias Raby as my father's middle name is Raby after a distant relative.
Does anybody have any information of any one above I would be very grateful

Found the following:-
Margaret Davidson b 1819 d 15 Feb 1897 Co. Down. Father Robert Davidson Mother Catharine Baby
Margaret married James Morrison about 1839
Catherine Davidson b 16 Dec 1825 d 22 Oct 1888 Co. Down. Parents as above.
I cannot find the surname "Baby" anywhere in Ireland so I assume it is meant to be RABY.

Thanks kingskerswell.
I wonder if anyone has details of another daughter who married Samuel Semple.
I belive Margaret and Catherine the daughters are buried with their parents I mentioned above.
Hugh Williams moved to North Wales but I have no idea what happened to his wife Catherine.

Interesting to see the Wedding of Hugh Williams and Catherine Semple on there . I have a copy of their wedding certificate.

Thank you Jim for a link to a site I had not seen before.
Very emotional looking through the Davidson gravestones wondering if there was a family connection. Also the Samual Semple who died in 1799 and pondering if there is a connection there. It seems the more you look the more questions you have.
thanks again for taking the time to put the links in.

Stephen,
I have a Isabella Semple listed as my GG Grandmother born app 1830 and was married app 1850.to John Richard McCauley.
The name Semple and the date is close to your relative.
I believe my family came from around Ballymena, County Down, N.i.
I am not sure about the Ballymena area as my information is not confirmed.
Any connection?
