Could someone be kind enough to look up the grave,(s) of my 'Finn' family which I believe to be in Saltwood (probably in churchyard).
There should be graves for the following family members:
1). Richard Finn (died 10th February1864),
2).Wife Emily Ellen Finn (died 5th December 1908).
3).Thomas James Finn (died in Chicago, 14th March 1893.
4).Louisa Harriet Finn (died early 1860s as a baby)
5).Harriet Louisa Finn (died 7th August 1937) aged 77 years.
6).Possibly- William Back Finn (died 19th September 1924) age 72 years.
7).Richard Finn (died 12th February 1926) aged 75 years.
and wife Emma who also died February 1926.
Any other ' Finn's ' close by would probably be for same family.
I would be really grateful if anyone could locate these graves and take some photo's for me.
I have quite a chunk of my family history missing so I'd really appreciate it if these Graves could be found.
Again thanks for any help
Barbara.

Hi Barbara
If it ever stops raining on my days off I will gladly go and take some photos for you. i still have another outstanding grave photo to do for another roots chatter but as soon as a free dry day comes around I will do it. If another person doesn't get there first.

Hi panda40,

I'd be so pleased to get photo's.

Hi Barbara
Braved the damp soggy weather and went for a walk around the graveyard. It is very well kept but sadly al ot of the gravestones have been affected by the weather over the years. I found the Finn family but no sign of your greatgrandfather Flew's grave. A lot have no markers. The Saltwood church website has a list of the burial plots that you can download but at a price. If you do this and get an exact location I will go back and have another look for his grave.
I have attached the photo for you. All appear to be in the one plot with no other graves with the same name.
Regards panda
Will have to try and work out how to attach photo as link is not working ??? ???

Hi Barbara
I click on the link where it says attach photo but the box for browsing and attaching does not appear. Frustrating or what. anyway I have PM you my email and I will send you the photo that way as soon as you contact me
regards panda

Hello. Sorry not quite sure how to use this website. I came across this post whilst googling Finns @ Saltwood. My Great Great Great Granddad is Richard Finn. Barbara are you/ were you a Finn?

Found the reply button now. However my dad just sent me family tree and there is a Barbara daughter of Frederick. Potentially cousin of my dad Colin (born 1944) (son of Leslie James Finn born 1915).
How exciting.

Hello cfinny, welcome to Rootschat. The post is a very old one, and the poster hasn't been on for several months, so you may not get a response from her. Let's hope she picks up on it. If you need any other help there are always willing people on here!

Hello cfinny1234,
Thank you for your interest in my old post of Nov 2008 regarding my 'Finn' Family Graves etc, it's good to see a possible connection with your family.
Due to family illness, I've unfortunately not had the time in the last couple of years to keep up with Rootschat and have only recently noticed your Post.
The Finns belonged to my late husband's side of the family,Richard & Emily Finn were his Gt Grandparents. His Grandmother was Mary Jane Finn, daughter of Richard and Emily.
I think and hope we are talking about the same family, you & I, and that we can exchange any information we each may have to help each other with our research.
Good to be in touch, look forard to hearing from you.
Barbara.

Hello Barbara. Thank you so much for replying. Sorry to hear about the family illness. I hope all is well (as can be in this Covid world) now.
My dads cousin Pat Roberts (nee Finn) has done extensive research of the Finns back to the 1550s. She has a separate contact especially for such work. I’m hoping it works if I send to you so you can correspond. I’ll do on separate msg in case this msg gets stopped.
As it happens. I have just added to the family tree (albeit not Finns). Twins born 11th October. They were rather early and so will be in hospital a few weeks now.

Hi cfinny1234,
Thanks very much for your message.
It would be good to get in touch with your Dad's cousin Pat Roberts and possibly exchange information on the Finn Family but it's not possible to put email information on Rootschat but you can use the Personal Message facility on here to forward me Pat's email address.
I would PM you myself but am embarrassed to admit that I cannot remember how to use it myself at the moment, I've got out of touch a bit in the last couple of years.
I will try to figure out how to use the PM service and I'll get back in touch with you.
Barbara.

Hi cfinny1234 & panda40.
Thanks very much both for the guidance re Personal Messaging.
For cfinny 1234, I will pursue the info you gave me, thanks very much.
For panda40. Thank you for your kindness back in 2008 when you spent some time in trying to trace 'Finn' graves in Saltwood for me - much appreciated.I cannot recall which/whose photo you managed to get for me then but at the time you were unable to send it to me, emailing it wouldn't work for some reason. However, should it turn up at some stage in the future, please send it if possible.
Thanks again for your time.
Barbara.

Hi Sarah
This is the problem we have when I click on the attachment option the window to upload an attachment to this message string does not apear for me. So I have no way of getting the image of the grave to Barbara. If you sort out why I can't attach an image to my post that would be appreciated, thanks.
