Title: Bournemouth 1953, lost relative
Post by: pbd2001 on Monday 03 November 08 16:28 GMT (UK)
Hello

I'm after some help in tracking down a relative (my deceased father's half sister). In essence, I want to know how I might find out who was living at a specific address in the UK in 1953/1954. It seems likely she was there based on information I have discovered in immigration records.

She was born in Australia in 1939 and travelled to England, arriving in Nov 1953

She travelled with a man who also gave the Bournemouth address as his domicile. This was not her father as he remained in Australia, dying in 1957.

Any suggestions as to a way forward would be gratefully received!

Best wishes

Phil

Hi

Try contacting the local County Council where details of electoral rolls may be held or they may be able  to put you in touch with the right department.  Another area you could try searching would be old telephone directories.

Regards

I think the school leaving age was 15 in 1953, so she may have been briefly enrolled at an English school (until July 1954 perhaps).
