I have traced my lineage to a marriage between James Cain(e) (b @ 1820) and Ann Linskey both of Galway. They married in 1844 - St Pauls Warrington. respective fathers Martin Cain(e) & James Linskey. Also a Julia Cain(e) a witness at the wedding.
Does anyone have any further information or can point me in right direction to track Martin & James Cain(e) or James Linskey in Galway? i have had the dna testing done via Rory Cains CAINE dna website & it comes back as definitley Galway - with Major Rory Cain as a direct link via dna.
I am also trying to trace James & Anns daughters - Mary Cain(e) b 1845 Warrington & Catherine Caine b 1856 Altrincham Cheshire

Shane - many thanks for the Linsky info. Looks like Dunmore is a distinct possibility.
The Stockport Caines I am aware of & they are a different family to those I seek - my Cains are in the 1851 census in Altrincham, Cheshire - but listed as surname Kean - occ given as fish dealer. (marr. cert in !844 shows name as Cain). Subsequent censuses gives name Cain then later Caine.
Usual tale i think - an Irish accent & you can't read or write - so the scribe puts you down as what he hears
