Thanks

Hi Ian,
Have you got any other information on this family...Birth years might help someone find them for you? Other children's names etc.
Have you got the death Cert for your grandfather?

Hi Ali
Thanks for getting back to me.I am afraid I don't have much more.I have some of the sons names
Danny, James,Rob,Alex,William, and maybe a Jock/John.I understand he had a shop in the town and all the family were taught how to mend their shoes and boots.Daniel apparently was a bit too fond of the drink and was locked up on more than one occasion. No death certificate for my grandfather.
Thanks again

Hi Ian,
Sorry but more Questions...
Do you know the birth date of your grandad or his age when he died?
On Scotlands people ther are 5 James Robertson's that died in 1975 in Aberdeen...is this where he died? If you know his correct age you will be able to order his Certificate I think they cost 10 pounds hopefully from this you might find out a bit more information.
Also do you know Helen's Surname before she married?

Thanks to everyone who have invested their time on this.
I can confirm that Helen Phillip did attend St Nicholas church so the location for the marriage makes sense and by extension from Ev

Hi there ,
I am in the middle of doing research on Daniel McLeod Robertson for one of our members at Aberdeen FAmily History Society . If you can give me some time to complete my research I will be happy to send you anything that is relevant to this family Daniell Mcleod was married to a Ann Edmonston . He died on the 29th July 1937 at 39 Ashvale place Aberdeen .His wife died in 1026 at 24 JAsmine Terrace Aberdeen Daniel's father was JAmes Robertson married to a Margaret Findlay . As I am just in the middle of this side of the family I need to do some checking up on dates etc.I have not done any research on the other members of Daniel McLeod Robertson's children other than Harry Mundie Robertson but if I can be of help I will .
Have a nice Christmas .

Hi Margaret
That's great news,
I have done some digging and if I can help just let me know.
I have copies of a few pertinent documents
Marriage document of Daniel Robertson (Boot Riveter) to Ann Edmonston (Millworker) Dec 2nd 1884
The father James was a cabinet maker who died on August 28th 1900 his father was Thomas Robertson was also a cabinet maker married to Jessie Mc Kenzie.Daniel was living at 52 Kings Crescent was a signatory on the death certificate.
Margaret Findlay was born at Maryburgh Dec 13th 1837 Father William Findlay Mother Isabel and I think the name is Fraser.
I have pulled a few documents, a number of them were not who I was looking for, the may help you.My info gets a bit sketchy going back further I have a Thomas Reid Robertson born in Lonmay 28th July 1795 fathers name William.Thomas in the 1851 census was 58 years old living with Jessie 51 and James 20.
My family side is the Robertsons is it one of my kinfolk that is looking?
Regards

Hi,
Sorry I have not got back to you but I have not been doing much research due to having had my other knee replacement.Problem is I cannot sit for any length of time yet .It will improve.I had not looked at the site for ages so did not get your query. Sorry about that.
I have done more on the Robertson's and I shall look out the paperwork and get the information to you.
This line of the family I have been working on have some interesting little bits of information so I hope that it is the same line as yours.
Will get back to you soon.

Hi Margaret
I hope your surgery was a success, I have been doing some more digging lately with the help of someone else tracking Robertsons.
I am a bit stuck with Jessy Robertson b. 1824 appears to have married John Ward July 5th 1851 and promptly disappeared.William Robertson b. 1823 was a confectioner and his brother John b.1826 a flax dresser also disappeared.I am wondering if the boys joined the army or went to sea?
Anyway good to see you are up and about again albeit a bit limited, hopefully you will soon be back kicking a ball again

Hi Ian, I hope the following information will help you find Jessie!
John Ward,a licensed Hawker & Warehouseman, died on 28 June 1873,at 66 Gilbert Street, Liverpool. He is interred in Toxteth Park,Liverpool.( His wife is stated as Jessie Robertson.) I got this from www.libindx.moray.co.uk & it also says he resided in Elgin

I keep trying this URL but in order to register you need to be an 'organisation' - how do you you overcome this? ???
-
Hi Supernova
The free access to the newspaper site has ended. You either have to subscribe or it can be viewed at certain libraries/organisations such as universities etc. who subscribe to it.

Hi flst,
I noticed your posting and wondered where your ROBERTSON's and MORRISON's came from, as I am following these two names and have John WARD married to Jessie ROBERTSON in Huntley in the year 1851.

The Robertson & Morrison surnames are both connected to the Gerrie family from New Pitsligo. Martha Robertson, daughter of Alexander Robertson & Martha Duff, married William Gerrie. Alexander Morrison ,son of William Morrison & Isabella Wilson, married Jane Gerrie in 1866.

flst,
Thanks for the info on the ROBERTSON's and MORRISON's. Unfortunately they do not match up with mine as my families came from Aberdeen,(City) and were shoemakers and cabinetmakers. Unfortunately all my shoemakers ended up as paupers!
Thank you all the same.
