I am an enthusiast of the genealogy and I have been looking for the origin of the Tognarelli family in the entire world. I am very interested in having contact with some Tognarelli in Ireland and the British islands to determine that place of Italy where emigrated its ancestors, its family history. Any information is greatfully received.
Thank you. Julio Tognarelli

There are also Tognarelli births and deaths and passenger arrivals in England. As you might expect, there are lots of Tognarellis in the United States. What information do you need?

There is a Tognarelli thread that may interest you http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,323887.0.html

To Erato and Geoffe: thank you for their cooperation. Any information is useful.
Specifically my interests is the migratory current of the Tognarelli from their origin Italy. How many Tognarelli are in England, Ireland and the British islands?, Which the county where they live?
Which is their origin place in Italy, region, city or town? , How many does Tognarelli appear in the phone guides?
Thanks a lot.

I don't know my way around Italy and could not make out the birth place of Angelina Tognarelli and family in the 1891 census. Here's the original; maybe an Italian will recognize the place name.

RE: Pots 431
Thank you Erato, but I don't also recognize the place. The others Tognarelli, they arrived from Argentine, they were civic Italian and they don't like may be the country and they decided to look for another residence country. Others arrived from Spain, it is the same case. Thank you again.

It looks like there could be a connection between Samuel Tognarelli and the other Tognarellis because his adress in England is 20 Tangier Street, Whitehaven.

At some stage, one branch of the family came from Cumberland into Westmorland - Kendal, to be precise. They were also ice-cream parlour owners and although the shop is no longer there, some of the older Kendal residents still refer to the place where it was as "Tog's Yard".
I can't see them in the 1901 census so I guess they came here after that.
There is one entry in our phone directory for the name, still in Kendal.

Erato:Re: Tognarelli immigration to USA.
I have a complete information on the Tognarelli in USA.
Between 1899 and 1920 - 109 Tognarelli arrived mainly in the ports of New York and Boston. It is registered the arrival date, age when arriving, residence, ship that brought them, manifests, also image of the ship with its technical particulars.
Additional: during the year 2002 had 128.413 Tognarelli in the phone directory.
Current residence: most resides in the states of Massachusetts, Illinois and California.
This is the type of information that I look for.
Thanks F/E

Does this mean you are seeking statistical information as opposed to information on specific individuals?

To Erato: That´s right my friend.

Hi,
With regard to post #7:
Some early Tognarelli marriages recorded in Pallot's Marriage Index for England: 1780-1837:
Peter Tognarelli and Margt Treacy [or Treay], 1795, St. Marylebone Parish
I think this is a reference to the parents of Edward Tracy Turnerelli (1813-1896), who was a claiment to the Tracy Peerage:

I am a Tognarelli from Workington. There are a fair few of us in the town in Cumbria but I am unaware of any Tognarellis in the rest of the county. My side of the family as far as we know moved from Barga Tuscany to the Uk but that's all I know. Hope this helps anyone who still reads this chat
