Is there a family history society that covers Wetherby and district?

Sigmund, As at the earlier replies, there used to be a local historical society - 'Wetherby Historical Society' but it finished many years ago, possibly in the 1980's. As mentioned above the connection is now through the the Harrogate HS. The Wetherby Society had a very good membership and was always well attended. One of its stalwarts and committee members was Dr. Lodge. (Now deceased)
If you want to learn a good deal about Wetherby history try finding a copy of a paperback book about the town's history, written by a local cobbler, Mr. Stead (again deceased; believe his Christian name was George) who ran a cobbler's shop on St.James's Street, in the town.
