Title: strange place name
Post by: wightlady on Sunday 26 October 08 16:14 GMT (UK)
I have just printed of a census entry for Thomas Nutt b 1832.
It says he was born in Lystire Poll, Worcestershire.
I've googled it and looked on maps but can't find anything like it.

Does anybody have any idea what it could be?

I've had a look at censuses 1841/51 and they both suggest that he was born at Stockton in Worcestershire. Maybe the name he has given is a much smaller place close to that?

Can't find him in 1861 but if I am looking at the right man, he is in Poplar, Middlesex by 1871.

I've found Leysters on the modern map and have been able to trace lots more Nutts in the same area!

It's good to be able to rely on Rootschatters for help with a problem!
You are a clever lot out there!
