oh no..Mike.. I am definately related to the Moores...a couple of times (or More :) ;))
Harriet Moore...Born Barwell 1826 daughter of George and Jane, George son of Daniel and Daniel son of Thomas (now theres a thing ... me related to Thomas Moore :o ::)) all Barwell.. but again in a '''link line''' I have a Beatrice Moore married to an Ernest Clarke 1895 in Hinckley -----
I looked at a Barwell Census for one of my lot the other day... (as you know have been searching family for years... so now know most family group names...) and on that ONE census rtn for Barwell there were at least 4 branches of my lot living in the same street... Wish I had realised that very early in my research..
;D :o
Its them bloomin Argyles I am at this week... totally trying they are... LOADS of Thomas 's born within the same or next county... ah well.. all good fun

Hi xinia,
No there is no fathers name listed and nothing in the notes at the side. There are many entries for the Haywoods/Heywoods.
Elijah Emma's brother starts having his children baptized from 1880.
If you want any more info from PR let me no.

Thanks Bunny Girl....they are all mine.... even if its distantly... (close knit community bless them)...
I have most info to Thomas 1823 Barwell his marriage etc ... What I am not definate about is his parents:
I have Henry Haywood 1787 (querying birthplace) married to Mary Dale 1792 Dudley worcestershire.
So I would LIKE to affirm Thomas's parentage... so that I can establish where they originated from...
thanks
;)

Hi
Yes in Barwell PR there is the baptism of Thomas 14 Feb 1823 parents Henry & Mary. Henry a victualler. BUT there is also a marriage of 1818;
Henry Haywood Marriage 20 Oct 1818 to Mary Barrett.
Mary from Kirkby Mallory married in presence of Jon Haywood.
then the children start with
Anne c 22 Aug 1819 p Henry & Mary (Henry a Labourer)
John c 13 March 1821 p as above (Henry a victualler)
then your Thomas 1823 Henry still a victualler
Mary c 14 May 1825 p as above (Henry a labourer)
Mary Burial 28 June 1826 p as above aged 13 mths
Sarah c 26 May 1827 p as above Henry labourer
Charles c 26 May 1827 p as above Henry labourer
Henry Burial 4 Jan 1832 aged 52yrs
then
Eliza Haywood c 27 Aug 1834 mother Mary Haywood Mary a labourer
Eliza burial 16 Sept 1836 mother Mary aged 2yrs
Barwell Parish Register starts 1653 the earlist record for Haywood that I can see is 1786 with an John Haywood marriyng Ann Adcock in Dec 1786, it looks that Ann dies in 1794 & John remarries in 1795 another Ann... Ann Bott of Thurlston, but I can't see any baptism of a Henry within this time scale.
Hope this helps with your research

Hey all
My great grandfather was an Arguile that emigrated to South Africa from Barwell in the 1920s. It is quite difficult thus for me to obtain information from England. I was wondering if people would be kind enough too look in their trees if they have any information on the following people:
- Amos Moore who married Frances Arguile (daughter of Robert Arguile and Elizabeth Needham).
- Michael Bates and his wife Sophia Cross. Their children were William (1831), Edward (1832), Hariet (1835), Mary (1838) and Eliza Bates (1841) who married Joseph Oliver Jordan (1839).
Any information would be much appreciated.
Kind Regards
Duncan Bennie

Moore's are not easy, have a Bott too! My Moore's are nearer Nailstone/Belton/Thringstone/Whitwick before moving to Leicester. I have so many George's and William's and a branch that moved to Hinckley.
Was interested in the list Xin for Moore's as I have a lot of marriages to check, know it's not quite the area but if I can be any help, just let me know.
-
dont know why its not attaching the list... hang on if it doesnt this time I will type it quickly.

Thank you :)
-
Thank you so much :D
Unfortunately Ancestry is not an option for me. Due to years of mismanagement the South African economy has gone to pot, so our currency has tanked so the exchange rate makes it unfordable for a student.
Thank you once again, have a great day ;D

Barwell's Bastardy cases would be heard in the Market Bosworth petty sessional hearings you are likely to find reports online in the newspapers ( FindMyPast)
You could search for the Hinckley Times ( not sure what date that paper started) but that is the local for the area.
Coventry Times (1855-1879)
Leicester Chronicle (1827-1900)
Coventry Herald (1824-1892)
Tamworth Herald (1870-1950)
Eg For the Leicester Chronicle

Thank you again sgf28 :)
I have found a list of burials in Barwell for the period 1813-1891, and with the information in that and a summery of christening record I have found on family search it seems Sophia had an illegitimate son William in 1824, 2 years before she married Michael who died 3 weeks after birth. So it seems someone was not so well behaved :P
-
I am afraid to say there was a lot of it happening in that little village by the looks of my crowd :) :0
