Hi
I am trying to help someone with a start on their family tree
By chance, I found a gravestone in Linthorpe Cemetery today with the family name Hiser, it lists three children and both parents.
So in 1881 I find the family Frederick Hiser in Middlesbrough with his wife Susannah and family, listed also are John Milber and Peter Milber as two son in laws ::) aged 12 and 10 RG 11 4853 72 22
1891 RG 12 4009 36 23, Frederick and Susannah are together, Frederick Hiser dies 1899 in Middlesbrough, 1901 Susannah is with another son Charles.
On the 1871 I can see Susannah Melbor with husband Fred and two children John 2 and Peter 4 months RG 10 4891 90 27, so I am right in thinking Susannah married twice and both times to a Frederick, one a Mellor/Melbur/Milber and then a second time to a Frederick Hiser???
On Middlesbrough Indexes I see a marriage for Frederick Hiser to Susannah Mellor, but I cannot see a Melbor/Meller marriage anywhere, I think I have looked too long.
If anyone can help with this problem or throw some light on to it I would be very grateful.
Am I reading it correctly or barking up the wrong family tree :)
Many thanks for reading

Fred & Susanna's surname is enumerated as Melbar in 1871. Both give their respective birthplaces as Germany.
The same is true for George & Rose Melbar, two doors down on the same page.

On Middlesbrough Indexes I see a marriage for Frederick Hiser to Susannah Mellor, but I cannot see a Melbor/Meller marriage anywhere, I think I have looked too long.
FreeBMD has this marriage as follows:
Marriage Dec 1872
HISER Frederick
MELBER Susannah
Stockton 10a 267
"Mellor" on the record you found is likely to be a mistranscription/red herring.
If Fred & Susanna were both born in Germany they have married there & not in England.

Hi,
Susannah Hiser is John Frederick Melber's (born 1869) mother, a relation of mine. Her maiden name was Ford, she married Frederick Melber, then went on to marry Fred Hiser.
Melber has been spelt incorrectly on the 1881 census, but clearly shows that by this time Susannah was married to Fred Hiser, they were living with John and Peter Melber (Fred Melber's children) as well as Fred Hiser's children Paul and Charles.
I'm guessing Frederick died and Susannah then met Fred H. I hope this helps, if you know anything more I would be grateful if you would share that info with me.
Many thanks,
Lorayne
