Title: Any "Kind Soul" going to the Norfolk Records Office??
Post by: LUV on Tuesday 01 February 05 18:23 GMT (UK)
I would dearly love a complete copy of my Great Great Grandparents marriage

Up until a rather big "fluke" yesterday, we were never able to find them in England as we did not know what county they lived in prior to their emigration to Canada.  Well, we found them!

I have the transcription- but am hoping the complete registration will have their parents names or at least their individual residences prior to their marriage

Christopher Jarvis married Margaret Kindell/Kindall
January 27, 1821
East Rudham Parish

Now, I also am on a fishing expedition and am looking for their children.
This couple and their family were found, 20 years later, on the 1841 Census in New Houghton Parish (thanks Theresa!!!).  Some of their younger children must have been baptised in the New Houghton Parish.

ANY HELP WOULD BE ABSOLULTELY FANTASTIC and greatly appreciated by alot of Jarvis puzzled researchers here in Ontario and Quebec :-*

Susan (From Montreal :))

No I think you are thinking of Kirby House, the records office of the Norfolk Family History Society.

The Norfolk Records Office is outside the city at the County Hall.  Very new and modern.

The Forum library which contains the heritage centre is situated behind the Market area in Norwich. They have most of the parish registers there and a few other documents all on film. They also have some old newspapers.
The Norfolk Record Office is just on the outskirts of the city at the Council offices, but they have their own car park and it is very easy to get to. They too have the parish records on film and the originals too. They also have several different records. If you go to their web page you can see which records they hold.
No need to book at either of them.

KATE - Sorry if this is a cheek ::)

But I have spent over a year looking for a couple - Edward Horstead and Elizabeth Selby - they must have married about 1760 as they had 4 kid when they turn up in Ketteringham, Norfolk in 1770.

I have looked high and low for this couple in Norfolk - Id be very grateful if you could look at marriages in Suffolk, just in case they came from over the border.  Many thanks.

I know this is a bit cheeky, but if it's too cheeky, I know I'll not get an answer. Am hunting children of James and Margaret Carver who would have been baptised in Bramerton between about 1812 and 1825 or so (mother was born in 1788). As I haven't found any searchable transcript to date, have only managed to find John c1817, William c 1821, Daniel (or David - marriage transcription is a bit uncertain) c 1822 and Thomas c 1823 from their marriage records. Would love to know if there were any girls or even boys who didn't reach maturity. Note: earliest date is a bit uncertain because James Carver was born in Framlingham Pigot in 1812 and latest date likewise because their mother could easily have borne children into the 1830s. As three of these boys left Norfolk for Yorkshire, I would dearly love to see if there were any more who left the county to see if I can find another line elsewhere.

Many thanks
Nick

Hi, Not cheeky at all.

I shall be going to the Record Office again in July. If you can wait that long - send me the details before then. That goes for anyone else too who wants a look-up at the Norwich record Office.
Can you please email me privately though as I don't always read my Rootschat mail straight away. You can email me direct or send me a personal message by going through "My Profile" (I think).

I usually go to the Recoprd Office once every 1 to 2 months, so if you miss me this time, You can always try at a later date.

Best wishes
Norfolkgal

What a wonderful offer! Of course I can wait to July. There is no way I could possibly get to Norwich in that time. Your e-mail address is hidden in your profile. Could you send it to me in a PM please?

Many thanks
Nick
