Title: Nash Births
Post by: jericho on Saturday 18 October 08 06:31 BST (UK)
Hi

I have a Margaret Brown and Michael Nash married 1906 in Palmerston. I would like to find out when their children Catherine, John  and Maurice were born. It is possible they may have been born in either Oamaru or Kurow.

thanks

Hi there Jericho,
do you have an approx year for the birth of the children. Someone then may be able to look them up on microfiche at the library.

Hi newbe

I would guess that the dates would be from 1906 - 1920 as far as I know there were only the 3 children.

Hi,  The only birth I could find was Catherine's

Catherine Nash folio number 4441 Kurow Sept Q 1908

Does John or Maurice have a middle name?
Do you know when  there parents died or where?

This might help as well

Thanks for Catherine's  birth date, she is my grandmother so I am pleased to have that, don't have either of her parents death certificates so may have to get those ones as well.

Thanks

Who did Catherine marry?

Did her parents Stay in palmerston and the Oamaru area till their deaths?

I may be able to have another look for  Catherine's brothers next time I am at the Library.

May not be till next Tuesday as Monday is a public holiday here.

Both Margaret and Michael Nash are buried in the Oamaru cemetery, it has been about 18 years since I last visted their graves and if I remember Michael died about 1955, I think Margaret may have died about 5 years before him.  Next week will be fine.

thanks

What a wonderful offer, that would be great if it is possible and any that can be found would be appreciated, I believe that Bridget Ross had a obituary notice as she served as the local midwife for many births in the area.

Thanks

I have ordered the notices from the national Library in Wellington.

I will wait for those ones to come then see if the can find the Obit for her.

Sounds like one of my relies who was also a midwife back in the early 1900's

Will let you know when I get them in the post.

Hopefully it may have the childrens names in it as well.

I had another look for the two remaining childrens births but with out knowing if they had a middle name it is very hard to find.

I will wait for the death notices and see what they say first.

Hi newbe

Thanks for the death notices, interesting to see my grandmother referred to as Kathleen as she was always known as Catherine. I really appreciate all your help.
