Could someone please look up a James Thornton, b abt 1836 in Blaby Leicester. I believe he was married in 1858 to Lois Vann from Little Glen.

1941 census may provide clue to parents, and later census records his children.

Sorry for delay in replying, but thanks for your hard work Annie. I looked for ages and could not find anything.

Can anyone see James Thornton's parents James b. abt. 1793 and Elizabeth Stretton b. abt. 1798 in 1861 census.  

James and his wife Lois seem to have moved into their house in "Pudding Bag". I think his mother Elizabeth was alive until 1866

I assume Wilford Rd should be translated to Welford Road.

Looks like a trip to the Records Office to trace James Thornton and Elizabeth Stretton further back. I have seen two Elizabeth Stretton births on IGI, 1796 and 1797 so I can start with that.
