I think this may be John with father also John and family in 1891 - children look to be born in Knockando:

John Shand 39, gamekeeper, b. Boharm, Banffshire
Ann S Shand 41, b. Inveravon, Banffshire
Maggie Shand 12
John G Shand 10
Donald Shand 9
Fannie A B Shand 6
Alexander Shand 5
James Shand 3
Charles Shand 1
Maggie Dow 22, servant

Address: Millhaugh, Knockando

This fits with the link provided by Yorklass: John G Shand, a gamekeeper's son was born in Knockando but left for London. This book was written by him when he returned.

John G Shand is the son of John Shand 1852 - 1930 and Ann Stuart (c1850 - 1903).  They married 1877 in Glenlivet.

John Shand Snr is the son of John Shand and Margaret McLean.

Margaret McLean is my gggrandmother.

If you have a connection with this family I would love to share information.

Hi Sharon,
Thanks for the info, it meant I could do further checks but unfortunately don't think its the same line of Shands though its probable they will be related
somewhere down the line.
Thanks again for your help

John George Shand was my great uncle, his brother James Shand was my great Grandfather. I'd be happy to share the information I have collected of the family.

Hi Mark,
That would be great.  I will send you my e-mail on the personal message as you will have to have a few more entries before you can send a personal message.  I tried to send you my Shand genealogy report on a personal message but it was too large.
Regards
Liz
