Dear Barbara,
Yes I believe that this is correct. Annie is also known as Mary Ann. Do you happen to know if John James is on any census prior to 1862?
Thank you,
sydney

It would help if you had details from his marriage certificate or later census, his address at time of marriage, his occupation, father's name and occupation

Dear Barbara,
At first glance this looks like the right family. John James's son was born in West Derby and the names Valentine and Charles are in the newer generations. I don't know anything about Higher Bebington, but it looks like it is just off Church Rd, the address givenn in 1861.
Well now, I guess, it is off to Wexford Ireland for John Browne (Sr.)..thanks so much,
Sydney

Thanks again Barbara. You have been a great help. That is a match to my g-granfather (Charles Redmond). Thank you,
Sydney

You're welcome :)
Any other census needed for the family?
-
How very kind! I have many that I am pursuing which I will list for interest.
I wonder if you have any information for the other names that are associated to John Browne and John J. Browne, i.e. Frances and Mary Ann Dixon.
Charles Redmond Browne (1866-19??) married Madeleine Pragnell whose family is a mystery to me. And yet another relative (different side of the family) is Edward Walter Bennett of Shaftesbury, Dorset, born about 1825 and moved to Newfoundland before 1855. He has been my biggest stumbling block.
Very kind of you to ask; any information would be appreciated.
Thanks again,
Sydney

You will need to post a new query for Edward Bennett on the Doset board.
I think you will need Charles Browne's marriage cert if you don't already have it, to show Madeleine's father's name and occupation:
marriage Jun 1894 Pancras 1b 198
Browne Charles Redmond Pragnell Maddeine
1901 census RG13/159 Folio 82 Page 20 shows Charles and Madelene living in Islington, her birthplace is given as Middlesex London and aged 28 - but I can't immediately see a birth for her, so again, a new post just about her on the Middlesex board would be a good idea - giving as much information as you have
