William Henry JONES married Ethel May COOPER, Jun qtr 1903, Basford, 7b 388.
Basford RD in in Derbyshire
You can search on FreeBMD for birth regs with the mothers maiden name. Unfortunately they only started putting the mmn on the index after 1911.
Jack JONES, Mar qtr 1920, Basford
William H JONES, Jun qtr 1918, Basford
Arthur JONES, Jun qtr 1921, Basford
Nelly Cooper JONES, Jun qtr 1909, Basford
Jack's details from the Commonwealth War Graves site

Thankies :)

have you tried FreeBMD Shirls ?
Ethel May Cooper marrying in 1903 - at a guess she was minimum 16, max - what 35 - could be older .... so use a date range spanning say 1865 - 1886 ?
all that practice on the other thread, thought you'd be an expert already :P
Happy to help if you arent sure :)

Looking on the 1901 census theres 2 or 3 Ethels in the Basford District born late 1880s .... and another one in Ilkeston, with middle initial M - b 1867, an Assistant School Mistress.
I think you may have to get the Marriage Cert to reveal her Fathers name ...

okie dokie... i'm just not sure on how to use freebmd :-[

Shirl, here's the URL for Free BMD
http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/
You need to click on search- then on the next page choose Birth,Marriage or death- or all 3 at once! Not such a good idea if you are searching for a common surname.
You can have a play about with it,by just putting in her name.
And if it gives you just far too many to search through, narrow it by a date eg Mar 1865- Dec 1886 as suggsted by Newf.
To narrow it further you can scroll down the counties and click on one of them.
Come back if you get stuck and someone will run through the results with you.
With a surname like Cooper it pretty well can't be mispelt ;D but you can also choose to search surnames phonetically if you have something that you're not sure of the spelling.
Have fun,
Carol
