Title: Trouble posting
Post by: sjohnstone on Tuesday 14 October 08 07:35 BST (UK)
Hi there everyone

I am a new user and I can't post in the 'How to use Rootschat' or the 'For Sale / wanted / events' boards - there may be others too.

Can anyone assist?  Do I need to reach a certain post count?

Regards, Sandy

Hi
Welcome to rootschat.  I suspect it may be that you have to have at least three posts to do that - an effort to stop spammers using the site.   That is certainly the rule before you can send personal messages.  Makes sure people are genuine family historians etc.

Welcome from me too Sandy  :D

Another little thing to watch for, if the topic you want to contribute to is locked you won't be able to add to it.... it will show a little padlock symbol.

Happy researching on RC..

Hi Sandy

Welcome to Rootschat!

The rule Andrea mentions only applies to Personal Messages as far as I know - it sounds like a problem of some sort.

You can't reply to topics on For Sale but you should be able to start a new topic.

You've successfully posted here, so why not try again on the other boards and let us know how you get on?  Meanwhile I will flag this up with Admin.

Kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

Hey, for whatever reason, the 'New Topic' button now displays on all boards for me.

Must have been a gremilin.  Thanks so much everyone.
