Was Arthur Howard a butcher by any chance?
If he was - there is a WWI service record for an Arthur Howard on ancestry; this one was living in Levenshulme, Manchester when he enlisted in the Manchester Regiment. Born around 1895, Manchester Regiment no 17930, he gave butcher as occupation. Lists next of kin as George Barrow, stepfather, and Esther Barrow, mother
