Title: 1851 census for NYR
Post by: angie36 on Wednesday 14 April 04 09:10 BST (UK)
Hi

I need a lookup for 1851 census for the NYR, possibly cotherstone or romaldkirk.

The names are Christopher, Elizabeth and Matthew Arnison. Matthew would be aged about 16. He left yorkshire for durham and married in 1858. He and his mother Elizabeth are listed on the 1841 census for Cotherstone. I believe that Christopher (the father) was absent, but not dead. Am desparate to trace Christopher as he is my biggest brick wall. I need to tie him back into the family tree and only an age or place of birth will let me do this.

So if you can help me - please..............

yes am still looking for christopher, he does not appear on any census, so am presuming he died between 1836 and 1841. His son John born 1835 died 1836 and is recorded as dead in the national buriel index, but there is no entry for christopher.

he is not listed as deceased on his son matthews (born 1832) marriage certificate in 1857, but I am told this would not be unusual.

I have a record of his marriage to Elizabeth Meynell for 1831 in Lartington catholic church, romaldkirk, but no details. I imagine he was born around 1800 or possible later, eliabeth was born in 1799 - so it was quite a late marriage for her.

Am totally stuck.
