Hi i am trying to trace my Great Nan all i have is her first name and her married name on my Nan's birth certificate.
Was wondering if there was any one who have come across the name of; Violet Kempthorne her daughter (my Nan) was called Julia Maud Kempthorne born in 1919 and she had a son called Edward Kempthorne born in 1895.
On my Nan's brothers wedding certificate it say's that his father is called James Kempthorne but on my nan's birth certificate it does not have her father on there. I only get the connection that they are related coz they lived in the same house 78a Meneage street,Helston and have the same last name.
I hope some one can help me thank yo

Hi angi0
I have my Nan's (Julia) birth certificate thats how i know that her mum was called violet kempthorne but thats all i know i don't know her maiden name.
I have a few street address that my Nan (Julia) lived she lived 78a meneage street than she moved to 110 meneage street and that she lived with her brother Edward Kempthorn i think he is her brother as he signed her wedding certificate as a witness.
The one's i need help on is violet kempthorne Edward Kempthorne and possibly James kempthorn which might be Edwards dad and Violet's husband as i can not find any record of birth death or marriage. But James does not show up on Julia B Cert
Thank you :)

Hi,
I think you can disregard the above.
The birth entry for Julia M., Helston Sept. Q 1919 5c/201 gives mothers maiden name as Kempthorne.

Yeah i have just checked the cert again but i can not find anything on her on if thats the case then how come if Edward is julia's brother and they lived in the same house how comes it shows up on his marriage cert that James Kepmthorne is his father? not julia's ?
if tehy was notmarried then how come they got the same name and lived in the same places.
i find this really strangelol

Hi,
It's not unusual for an illegitimate child to give their grandfather or stepfathers name.
This has happened more than once with my lot and caused a bit of confusion to begin with in my research.

so how did you manage to get passed this blockage so to speak?
its really hard to see a way forward
-
Hi,
I have been lucky perhaps as most of them gave their grandfathers details which I knew or found later in earlier census returns.
