Title: 1841/151 census -Acton, Stapely or Nantwich areas
Post by: eredford on Monday 31 January 05 14:33 GMT (UK)
I am trying to locate census info on Ralph and Catherine Barnett who married in Acton and their children
Joseph (1810)Thomas (1811)Samuel (1822) George(1827) Margaret (1829) & Jane (1832). Ralph & Catherine married in 1809 in Acton moved to Nantwich then to Stapely by 1822. Ralphs occupation is probably Labourer.
Thank you very much.

Hi
    Welcome to rootschat
I can only find Ralf and Catherine together in 1851 in Stapeley, they are not there or in the surrounding parishes in 1841. In order to locate them could you supply an address maybe from one of their childrens marriages ?

Thanks Peter for a prompt reply
I was secretly hoping they could be  traced in the 1841 census as I do not have any addresses as yet. I am descended from Samuel Barnett and he married in Staffs in the 1840's so it maybe that the family moved there  after the bith of their youngest in 1832. I will need to locate their Marraiges in the parish Registers or the St Catherines Index. to see if I can get an address. The last I know was in 1832 when they were in Stapely. There are lots of Ralph and Samuel Barnetts around Nantwich from what I can gather.  Thanks again.

Hi
One of the problems with the 1841 apart from some pages being very feint is that there is no name index, and as you say there are lots of them, and if you found them away from Ralf and Catherine you would not know if they were "right". I did think that if a marriage or death could be found for Margaret, which is not as common a name as Samuel or Thomas then it might be worth risking a certificate?

Thanks Peter. That sound like  a good idea. It took me over 12 months to locate my Dads Family as I did it the wrong way round as he had no living relatives  - from interments in Hindley cemetery and then working back through census and, certificates, electoral and parish records so I haven't too bad. Onwards and upwards.
