;D Hi, I have just had a new lead on my elusive Barton family from Harpurhey Manchester, and have traced Thomas Barton C 1847, and his wife Sarah C1841.
Thomas is a joiner, and is born Scotland, they are shown as living at 21 Ormond street chorlton-on-medlock in 1881 with their children David B 1869 manchester, Florence B. 1875, George Leslie B 1878 and William B 1880.
Would anyone be able to look them up on the 1861 / 71 Census' for me?
I think Sarah may be Sarah Livsey for the 1861 census Born in Congleton Cheshire. I need her to be born around 1841!!! Then I will send for the Marriage cert.
Just to confirm that the ages are , and to see if it shows where in Scotland he came from.........looks like I will have to find a site that shows the Scottish census', I was just about to renew my membership with find my past but now I am not to sure what to do! Can anyone give me feedback on ancestry? its a while since I had membership with them, and they were not that brilliant then.

in 1871..they are living with Sarah's brother William ( Livsey) at the same address.
He came from :- Lochmaben, Dumfries-Shire, Scotland

;D Thank you all again, I have forgotten how wonderful people are on here, since I have had a 12 month break from family history, but I love how one little conversation turns a brick wall into a flowing river of information!
I was stuck on my William Barton V Margaret Clarke, marriage somewhere around 1900.......... then someone said "are you sure they are the correct parents" to me last week.........and they were the wrong ones, and I have managed to get the wedding cert since I am no longer quoting the wrong fathers name for the bride! and its all going lovely again! The person that made me go for the wrong parents, our Florence, has turned out to be William Bartons sister, and not Margaret Clarkes sister.........which means I have my first lead on the Bartons in many many years! from Harpurhey to Scotland in the space of 2 hours!!

Following up on what you have found, I have done a search on the scottish site, and his parents are David Barton (Barras??) C 1813 and Elizabeth Lockie C 1811.
David is the son of James Barton and Sarah ? (looks like Leaky or Locky, very hard to make out) Had no joy finding them on the 1841 scottish census tho!
