Post by: Martin Briscoe on Saturday 04 October 08 14:23 BST (UK)
Just been looking around the Heritage North (http://www.heritagenorth.org.uk) website and there is a mention of the Glengarry Heritage Centre which appears to hold some local genealogical information.

It was built to house an existing exhibition of wall-mounted panels describing the history of Glengarry during the period 1600-1939, focusing mainly on the MacDonells of Glengarry, Glengarry emigrations and Victorian/Edwardian Ellice periods. It has been designed to house a growing archive of local historical material in paper and electronic form. It's on the A87 about a mile or so west of Invergarry, just past the new cemetery...

It's the community hall that opened up in May 2006.  I was there for the opening along with many, many residents of the area and MPs Charles Kennedy and Danny Alexander.

It has historical information moreso than genealogical information.

What is it that you are after?

Yeah, Martin.  There are a number of members of the local historical society who work at the  Visitors Centre in the rooms set aside for local history.  It was thoughful of you to mention it.
