Hi Liz,
Thanks for looking for me, I don't actually know what his wife's name is yet or even if he was married. Could you send me the information on Sarah if you have time, its quite an unusual name that she may belong somewhere. Thanks again,
Joan

Marriage:
Louis Frederick W Zinn
Ap/MAy/Jun 1897
Islington
ref 1b 360
possible brides:
HArriet Lucy McFarlane
or
Jessie Harriet Beresford
so the Alice I found (not Sarah!) is unlikely to be his wife.
I will have another squint at 1901 to see if I can find a Harriet or Jessie...
-
That's great Liz. Thanks
-
Not got anywhere with 1901
but I see FreeBMD has two Zinn births with mothers maiden name McFarlane in 1915 and 1917, so I am favouring the HArriet Lucy Mc Farlane marriage - but still cant find them in 1901!
-
Hi Liz,
Thanks for looking for me. I suppose they could have just been missed off the 1901 or maybe they moved out of London.
Regards, Joan
-
Should have got them even if anywhere else in England! 1901 covers whole country!
-
is this the family in1881
RG11 389 7 8
dad Louis (bn Germany) , mum Eliza and 8 children incl 7 yr old Louis?
-
That's the one Liz

There is a Louis married to a Harriet in 1901 in ...hmmm...where was it? Suffolk I think (sorry didnt write it down and have been off doingsomething else!) but they were a much older couple, in their 50's or so in 1901, so it is possible this Louis marriage is not your one at all, but an older couple marrying. Wont know without the cert.
I havent found any of your lot from 1881 in 1891 or 1901 so maybe they all went back to Germany. Do yuo have any further evidence of thefamily still being here after 1881?
-
Ok - so here is thefamily in 1881;

I am coming back to the Islington marriage in 1897 being this Louis.
There are also these Zinn marriages, which look like siblings of Louis :
Alice Matilda Oct/Nov/Dec 1893 Islington
Eliza Jan/Feb/Mar 1884 Islington
Louis Frederick W A/M/Jun 1897 Islington, as I gave you before.
-
Phew, I think I have Louis for you in 1891 !
The Eliza marriage I just gave you had a choice of bridegrooms, one of which was George William Roff.
And here they are, I am pretty sure, in 1891, and guess who the boarder looks like! !

George 6 bn Clapton
Agnes 4 "

That looks good - esp with the "silver" connection in his employment!

Louis Zinn from Germany was my GG Grandfather, have a few bits, including a pic of his wife Emily (nee Thomas). Their Daughter Adelaide was my great grandmother. Again, on her loads, of stuff; if anyone's interested.
