Post by: Tillytwo [Australia] on Thursday 02 October 08 01:28 BST (UK)
I have a William Millward Baptised 5 August 1804
St. Michael's Church Macclesfield Cheshire
Parents Sarah and William Millward

Also a Thomas Millward born in 1797
Hartington Derbyshire
Parents Sarah and William Millward

I am hoping these are the same family, could you look
at the 1841 Macclesfield census.
Thank you Tilly.

Hi Tilly,

There is a Thomas MILLWARD living alone in Sutton, Macclesfield - he's a Butcher aged 40 (ages rounded down to the nearest 5 in 1841).  He's shown as not born in county (ie Cheshire).  Does this help?

Ref is: HO107 107/7/10 Page 14.

Thank you to Jean and Trish.
Thomas b1797 age 40 in 1841 census, lived in Byron Street Sutton Macclesfield as did many other Millwards at the same time. and I do have that information. and all his BMD certificates.
I am now trying to find his parents. His Marriage certificate has his Father's name, William.
Trish I have not found William in the 1841 census
Thomas and his father William were  butchers by trade.
And that comes back to my first question,
I had found the names Thomas and William Millward, [familysearch] both baptised at St. Michaels Church, parents William and Sarah. I thought the 1841 census may help
Also  I am looking for a connection or anthing to fill in Thomas's years between birth 1797 and 1841.  Tilly

Hi Tily,

Unfortunately the ones I found are not butchers.

Were William snr and Sarah in Derbyshire and farmers?

Hello Trish,
William and Sarah [Woods]?   [from the Familysearch site]
William b1775 in Sutton in
Ashfield, Nottingham married Sarah 24 03 1800
their son THOMAS baptised 16 Jan 1797 Hartington Derbyshire, 3 years later??
I know this Thomas is the Thomas mentioned in the 1841 census living in Byrom Street Sutton Macclesfield

The other William and Sarah I found at Familysearch, had a son names WILLIAM baptised
5 August 1804 St. Michael Church Macclesfield
I can give you Batch numbers and printout call numbers if they are of any use to you.

Hello Jean,
You are working hard on this Millward family of mine.
I have the death certificate of this William Millward
age 63 in 1838 which means his birth would have be 1765
and he did live at Lane Ends Sutton Macclesfield, as did
Thomas according to the 1841 census.
The person present at the death
was A.Shaw, who signed with an X
I have not claimed him as My William as I do not feel I have anough evidence yet
Thank you for all your work.
Tilly

Hi Trish,
Many thanks for all your hard work,
I can understand you having sore eyes looking at the screen for a long time.
I have been given a site to look at by Ruth [see my other message under St Michaels Church Macclesfield]  which may help find this family of mine, they are being very difficult.
Take it easy, Tilly :)
